The Radford Highlanders are members of the Big South Conference. Radford is a public university in Radford, Virginia with 9,400 students.
Radford was 22-11 overall last season, and they were 12-4 and finished tied for 1st in the Big South Conference regular season, but were the #2 seeded team in their tournament.

Unfortunately, they were upset in the Championship game of the Big South Tournament by Gardner Webb, they did not get a bid to the NCAA. They were hoping for an NIT bid, but with an RPI of 144, they did not get a bid to the NIT either. Despite being tied for 1st place in the Big South regular season, they did not get an automatic bid to the NIT because they were the #2 seed.-

Just watched the Radford hilights against NW. we will absolutely learn something about our team after this game. Radford plays loose and free, and can really score the ball on drives and 3’s.

Hersey Hawkins will be at the game tonight-

I never heard a reason why Hersey Hawkins was in town and at the game. Anyone know?

The game was a great, exciting game, especially for Bradley fans. Right from the start Bradley broke out of their shooting funk and were making shots. Nate Kennel was the Player of the Game. He had double digits in the first half to help Bradley to a 37-27 lead, and ended with 20 points.
Elijah Childs didn't have a great offensive game, but he got a lot of double-teaming. He ended with just 6 points, but was terrific on the boards with 12 rebounds. Koch Bar had 11 rebounds. Darrell Brown also struggled with his shot early, and ended with 14 points, 5 assists, and just 1 turnover. DB is 9th nationally in assists/game.
Free throw shooting was not good again. But the other positives were great defense, especially on their top scorer Carlik Jones who only had 14 points, and needed 13 shots, and he had 5 turnovers. And Bradley outrebounded Radford 38-25 and BU had 16 offensive rebounds.

The other bummer was Danya Kingsby getting involved in the tussle under the boards and getting the Flagrant 2 foul. Thankfully, it did not end up hurting too much thanks to the better depth we have. Henry and Gabriel contributed some good minutes, too.

Thought we played really well on defense overall but struggled to run our offense consistently during the last 25 minutes. Thankfully Nate was on fire and DB made some shots when it counted. Shooting 15-25 from the FT line won't cut it against better teams. We also need to hold our composure better. The thing with Danya is just inexcusable. Regardless if the guy did or said anything you just can't react in a way that kicks you out of the game. Also, though is was brief, Eli lost his cool again. Until he can control his emotions other teams will keep trying to get under his skin. With that being said I think Radford will contend again for their conference championship so this was a tough well earned victory.

I thought not having Kingsby for part of the game really hurt us. It opened up Radfords offense as their stud could penetrate at will. We sure could use another quick lock down ultra quick defender. Danya please keep your cool as you are a very important/critical part of this team!

Interesting to Bradley fans would be Hersey Hawkins view of game. I appeal to Chris Reynolds and/or Dave Reynolds to share if permitted by Mr. Hawkins.

Also, interesting to Bradley fans would be an after game interview with a player. Last nights interview by Dave Snell would likely have been Nate Kennell.

Totally agree, Heem.

As most fans will recall, WMBD used to do a post-game interview with one of the players that the coaches sent up to the broadcast table after the game. But one of the first changes Coach Wardle made was he would not allow his players to be interviewed. That applied to post-game interviews and pretty much any interviews at any time. That's his prerogative, but I think fans would like to hear more from the players.
