Final score: Bradley 74 Akron 55

The roads are fairly good, though slightly slick. We did see a couple cars that slid off Route 116 in E. Peoria, so if you are going to be driving, go slow.
There are only a few dozen people in the arena right now.

What a performance. I think that's the best we have played this season. Great defense, good balanced offense. How nice it is to have everybody back and healthy.

Not sorry I stayed home. :-) The camera work was great, and the announcers were very good.

Solid Victory tonight vs. Akron... started with strong defense that had Akron out of rhythm, then we had bursts of offense. 9-4 is a good place to be before conference!! Enjoy the break until next week - Happy Holidays!! Go Braves!!

This team has 7 guys that are solid 3 point shooters and with JaShon and Zek back, we are just very deep, and this team is going to be tough if we can stay healthy. I don't think we've been this dominant at home since the Les era and it's making going to games a lot of fun right now. Let's hope it holds up when we start playing the tougher conference teams.

Side note: Ville has had a handful of games where he lit it up from 3 and tonight was one of them. Remember how everyone used to double team him and now he's getting a lot of open looks. If we can get the Ville that is consistent from 3's, look out!

Final score: Bradley 74 Akron 55-
Stats- https://bradleybraves.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2022-23/akron/boxscore/21487

Bradley dominated a pretty good Akron team from the start. BU lead by as much as 32 points (54-22 at 14:08 of the 2nd half).
Great defense and great shooting (14-30 from three). Another double-double by Rienk Mast (15 points, 13 rebounds).
Duke Deen was awesome again, 14 points and 4-7 from three. He is 11-18 over the last 2 games and is now 30-78 (38.5%) on the season.
Zek Montgomery had a great game, too. His defense was solid, as was everyone's. He was 5-9, and 2-3 from three for 13 points.
And Ville had 14 points, and was 4-6 from three with 4 rebounds.
Connor Hickman struggled again with shooting (just 1-10), but he will get that straightened out. But his defense was good, and he had 6 rebounds.
An all around nice performance by the entire team. Bradley will need games like thi in the upcoming MVC season.

Boxscore says 3500 in stands. How accurate is that?

Beat all around game. Shooting awesome,
open looks consistently due to good ball movement and great transition offense. Good to see Ville hit those open shots.

Looking onward. Think the boys should be favored in every home game. If they can pull of 4-5 of 9 on the road. They are pry valley regular season champs at 15-5/16-4. Keep winning.

Fun game to watch. At Belmont should be fun

Not. To an untrained eye, I’d go about 800 butts in seats. Definitely over 500 and under 1500.

Bradley reports "tickets sold" rather than actual attendance. So that includes season tickets and tickets sold prior to game day, even if the buyer doesn't attend.
The official attendance was recorded as 3,530.

If anyone recalls the February 1, 2011 "Snow Game" between Bradley and Creighton, Bradley moved the game from 7 pm to 3 pm, hoping to avoid a massive snowstorm predicted for later that day. Peoria ended up getting over 20 inches of snow that day, and even with the game moved earlier, most people stayed home. I was there, and I counted somewhere around 250 people in the stands.
However, check the official box score- https://bradleybraves.com/news/2011/2/2/205088189.aspx

The official attendance that game was listed as 8,091!

The good news was that Bradley upset Creighton 69-61, and CU Coach Greg McDermott was angry and blamed the loss on the change of game time.
That loss may have cost Creighton a bid to the 2011 NIT Tournament. They finished the 2010-11 season 23-16, and ended up playing in the CBI tournament.

Thats a very good point Tommy.I said that last year. When Ville first came here he had Nate playing, Bradley's best 3 point shooter so he would draw the other teams best 3 point defender. When Nate graduated Ville became a marked man, double teams, chasers. Now Bradley has more 3point shooters on the team so that is leaving Ville more open. I think Bradley is very hard team to defend. And I think they are only going to get better

As long as we stay healthy, this Bradley team is going to be very hard to beat in the Valley. It was nice to see a complete game where our opponent didn't even have a chance at winning.

I think this was the third game with the entire team healthy and available. Really starting to gel and come together as a team. That should only continue to improve. If a few more guys can improve there individual performances, we should be right where we need to be.

Nice overall game. Nothing much to complain about. Connor a little off, but he’s been playing well. I’d still like to see a little more run for Davis (who has tons of growth potential) at perhaps the expense of a Hannah and Pop (who are little we know what they are finished products in my view). He did get some run in the first half due to foul trouble today, and he made a nice unselfish pass for a three.

Overall a great night and I’m ready for Valley play! Three tough road matches sprinkled in with some must win to contend home games early on in the first six contests (must win because we should win). I really like this team’s chances to contend for the title! If we can go at least 4-2 or hopefully 5-1 in the first six it’d put us in a nice spot. It’d be nice to for sure get one or two of those tough road matches (Belmont, Murray, Drake)
