Bradley is now 10-11, and 4-8 in the MVC. The next game is the second of two rescheduled games at Valparaiso.
Bradley lost at Valpo on January 28 in a double-overtime game 91-85-

With that earlier loss, Bradley is 6-5 all time versus Valparaiso. Three of those games were played in the early 1980's. Bradley won twice at Robertson Memorial Fieldhouse in 1980 & 1981, and Valparaiso won in their campus gym in 1983.
The last 7 regular-season games between them were after Valparaiso joined the MVC for the 2017-18 season. In those 7 MVC conference games (2018, '19, '20, and '21), Bradley has won all 3 games played in Carver Arena, and Valparaiso has won all 4 games played in their campus arena, the ARC. The one other game was the MVC Championship game last March in St. Louis, won by Bradley.
Bradley was originally scheduled to play at Valparaiso this season on Dec. 28 & 29, 2020, but at the time, the Valpo program was shut down with Covid issues.

Valparaiso is 7-12 overall, and 4-6 in the MVC. They are coming off a 74-57 upset against Drake.

Bradley ranks 9th in the MVC in 3-point shooting at 31.7%%.

Ari Boya and Sean East II are out for Bradley tonight.

For Valparaiso, freshman starter Connor Barrett, their 5th leading scorer (6.5 ppg) and top 3-point percentage shooter (39.7%), is out with an achilles tendon injury.

What is wrong with Nolan!? 2-6 from the floor and 4 turnovers. I know we’re up but this team is becoming really hard to watch! We just can’t put teams away right now. At this point it is really hard to believe that if it wasn’t for missed free throws we could have beaten both Xavier and Missouri!

Well glad to get a Win.....have been hard to come by for sure. Be nice to build on this by stacking a couple more on it. :-o

Kevin McAdoo played 29 minutes at point guard, and despite a poor shooting game (just 3-10), the offense flowed much better tonight. McAdoo had 5 assists, and the team had 15, more than we've seen in a while. Bradley was making their threes more efficiently, with Ville 4-9, Mast 2-3, Nolan 3-8, and a team total of 13-30. And the defense seemed to guard much more aggressively and make switches faster, which frustrated Valpo. They shot only 35% overall, and 35% from three.

There were still a few too many unforced turnovers and bad passes, but the team appeared to recover quickly from them, and it did not lead to long dry spells like we've seen in past games.

Bradley had 6 players in double-figures- Ville was the POG with 14 points & 8 rebounds; Childs had 11 & 8, Mast had 10 & 7, Ja'Shon Henry had 11 & 5, and Nolan had 13 points and 4 assists, and McAdoo had 10 points.

Bradley is now 11-11 overall, and 5-8 in the MVC. They play Saturday and Sunday at Missouri State.

Crazy! It’s like Jekyll and Hyde.. Go Braves!

haha! totally noticed the same things you were pointing out, brother, but man, it's good to be back on the positive side!

On a side note, I really like what McAdoo brings. I think he is making a difference.

I do too Tommy. They have definitely played better since he has been back... I thought he was gone for good.

7 in double figures, the same 7 played 24 or more minutes. Pretty darn efficient. And the defense, where Coach hangs his hat, put the hammer down in the second half and never allowed Valpo to get it under double digits after a Mast 3 at 17:45. During this last month where we’d build a lead only to see the other team come right back. In the second half they never scored on back to back possessions. Hopefully this is a building block win.

No other answer than we need East back to handle the ball and get this offense flowing more fluidly. We have no true PG right now.

A much needed win for the Braves. This was the team I expected to see all season long. Good balance, good defense.

We really weren't that good - it was a matter of Valpo just playing very very poorly. If they had brought their C-game would have gone down to the wire.
We hit our 3s - that's why we won.

A few thoughts from last night:

Was GREAT to see our intensity for nearly all 40 minutes, especially on Defense.

Mast continues to impress in his Freshman campaign. It's baffling (as it is to many of you), why our other freshmen are hardly seeing the court now. They have serious up-side and the way things are going, could they consider transferring? I'd be frustrated if I were Hannah or Kent with their talent level on a team where guys are not playing to their potential.

McAdoo played a LOT of minutes. The kid has a pretty smart b-ball IQ, but really he is not one of our best 5 players - decent bench player at best.
We're in trouble if we rely on him for 20+ minutes a game!! We got away with it tonight since Valpo was awful.

Ville knocks down 4 treys. When he gets back in rhythm, he'll be big for this team. As Ville shoots, BU usually goes. (3 or more 3's almost always results in a Braves victory)

As DC alluded to, offensive flow much better. Better passing from side to side and inside-out. This was the biggest plus for me tonight!

We hit our 3s - that's why we won.

We shot 45.2% from the field and 43.3% from 3's, and I thought we played much better defense on the perimeter. Could have just been bad shooting by Valpo, but we seemed to be much more active and in their face. I'd at least like to think the effort lead to the poor shooting from Valpo, but most likely, a little of both.

Either way, I'll take the win!

I'll accept this Tommy. If I had just seen the final score without seeing the game I would have been elated.
But some of our overarching issues are still present - namely no true PG to make the offense fluid, quite a few mental mistakes and it's mid-February, and now we have a lack of depth b/c our freshman (and A Thomas) are on the bench.
I'd like to see us sacrifice a bit of this season for the development of our younger guys even if it means a couple fewer losses.

I am glad we sustained our big leads for most of the night.
Most Wardle teams have been able to close out games and win the close ones, but it's been problematic this season.
