Howard plays another game Wednesday, Nov. 10 at home against Regent University, a non-NCAA school (they are members of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), and they should be 2-0 when they arrive in Peoria.

Howard was picked 5th in the 2021-22 MEAC preseason poll-

Howard was 1-4 last year as most of their non-conference schedule was cancelled, along with their entire MEAC schedule. In the previous season (2019-20), they were one of the worst teams in Division I. Their record was 4-29 overall and 1-15 in the MEAC

Their leading returning scorer is Steve Settle, a 6'10" redshirt sophomore who averaged 14.2 ppg and 6.4 rpg last season. He had 8 points in the opening blowout win over University of the DC, but only played 16 minutes. Their leading scorer in their game Tuesday was freshman Elijah Hawkins, who had 23 points off the bench. They are coached by Kenneth Blankeny in his 3rd season.

Updated stats for Howard (2-0) through 2 games-

Freshman Elijah Hawkins, who was their leading scorer in their first game with 24 points, did not play in their second game. He didn't play in either of their exhibition games either, so maybe there is an injury?
Another freshman, Bryce Harris, lead Howard in scoring against Regent with 26 points.

Howard has outscored their 2 opponents 205-113, and they are averaging 102.5 ppg, and their defense is averaging 56.5 ppg yielded.

This is the first Bradley game that fans are allowed to attend since the final home game of the 2019-20 season on February 29, 2020. There are a number of new restrictions for people attending Civic Center events that some fans may not be aware of, like face masks required, cashless concessions (only credit cards), no re-entry policy, and no purses or bags larger than 4½ inches by 6½ inches.

Good news: Ville is dressed and cleared to play.

Bad news: Ja'Shon is not in uniform. Don't know why yet.

Ville was dressed and went through warmups, but now is in street clothes and will not play. Apparently he was cleared for on-court drills, but not for game action.

I know its early, only 2 games in but you cannot start out every game down 20 pts. Are we not ready to play or just nervous? Maybe a combination of both with player's getting used to each other.

Tough to win when the team shoots: 39%, 18.5 %, 50% (FG, 3pt FG, FT)

I think we have found BU's problem so far this year. Does BU recruit athletes, or, kids that aren't very athletic but can shoot the rock?

Not to brag, but I'm pretty sure I could still make >50% from the FT line. Unfortunately I don't think I could make it all the way down the floor once anymore without a time out:lol::lol:

This team has looked bad in the 2 games so far. But my observation is that Bradley is not a talentless team. There is abundant talent on the team, but they are out of sync, and not playing well together. Innumerable bad passes and incredibly poor shooting, combined with inability to keep teams from shooting lights-out from the three point line has lead to the 2 losses.
Bradley appeared to have the athletes to be a better defensive team, but so far, we haven't seen that. And I am sure they are capable of shooting a lot better than they have so far. So hopefully, these problems can be fixed.

First 2021 BU regular season game was better, but still, damn:
36.8%, 24%, 60%

Unfortunately, symptoms of a not so talented team at least so far.

Definitely a difficult loss but I think they have some real talented players that are new and have not been playing together for very long. Hopefully our coaches will figure it out and be able to blend this talent together before the Valley season opens.

Frankly this is going to go down as one of the most disappointing performances I've ever seen in person. The offense was beyond horrible. Too many bad passes, no movement, 18 turnovers, 5-27 from 3 and 13-26 from 1 is about as ugly as it can get. We didn't have a lead for the second straight game. Defensively we allowed them to shoot 26-50 overall, 13-24 from 3. Inexcusable. One time we scored 6 straight points during the game. That's it. Still waiting for our first lead of the season. Hopefully the guys can pick themselves up, dust themselves off and move on to the next game. Just have to remind ourselves it's early and as bad as it looks now it will get better. Have to remember UNI, with a lot of their key players back along with the return of A. J. Green, is 0-2 as well so hopefully the guys will learn from this and apply it in their next game.
