It is the first game of the regular season for both teams, but St. Bonaventure played a preseason exhibition game against a weak Division III school, Alfred University, from Alfred, New York. The Bonnies won easily 101-40.

Bradley is currently a 1.5 point favorite for Monday's game.

St. Bonaventure is a member of the Atlantic-10 since 1982, and is located in Western New York, near the town of Olean, NY.
The St. Bonaventure Bonnies were 22-12 overall last season, but just 9-9 in the Atlantic-10 Conference, and tied for 7th place. They got an invitation to the NIT, and were blown out at home by Kent State 75-56.
This season they were picked 8th out of 14 teams in the Atlantic-10 preseason poll. Their only player honored on the preseason All-A10 teams was Dasonte Bowen, a 6'2" redshirt junior guard picked on the 2nd team, who averaged 11.1 ppg, 3.8 rpg, and 4.0 apg last season.
Their preseason Kenpom ranking is 122 (Bradley's is 106).

Stats from 2024-25- https://gobonnies.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats

They lost 5 of their top 6 scorers from last year, and only 2 scholarship players returned from last year's roster. Their top returning scorer was the 4th leading scorer, 6'2" redshirt junior guard Dasonte Bowen 11.1 ppg and 3.8 rpg.
But they have reloaded with 11 new players, including 7 players who transferred via the transfer portal, and 4 international players- two from Italy, one from Ireland, and one from Russia.

In their exhibition game, the top performers were Darryl Simmons II, a 6'2" junior guard (transfer from Gardner-Webb) who scored 24 points (9-13, 6-10 from three), and Cayden Charles, a 6'3" senior guard (transfer from North Georgia) who had 20 points (9-19, 1-6 from three. Both those top 2 scorers came off the bench. Overall, for the game, they were 57% FG% (42-74) and 45% from three (13-29). 11 players played (they have 15 players on their roster), and a couple of their key players sat out with injuries. The other two who didn't play are freshmen, not reported to be injured. Their 2nd team All A10 pick, Dasonte Bowen, played 27 minutes, and had 5 points, 1 rebound, and 4 assists.
Here is information about two key players who missed the exhibition game, presumably due to injuries-

I assume WMBD will broadcast.

I assume WMBD will broadcast.
I think so. Dave Snell talked at the Itoo Hall about being ready to start doing the games. But oddly, there is no mention anywhere about it on the Bradley schedule, or on the WMBD radio website. Maybe if Bradley posts some kind of pregame article it will clarify.

Good luck with that….
Bradley’s played two public exhibitions and there wasn’t a pregame article for the St. Louis home exhibition, and no post-game report or stats for either exhibition game.
They didn’t mention the WMBD Coach’s radio show either - lot of fans didn't know about it.
What’s going on up there?

Dave is in Rock Hill to broadcast the game.

From a promotions / marketing point of view there seems to be lots of loose ends on the Hilltop.

I am sure Wardle and staff worked with the team on defense. Do not need another layup drill that St. Louis put on display the other night. Wonder what the team identity will be with all the newcomers. Sure it will take a while before they gel as a team. It is anybody's guess what the starting lineup will be going into our first game. Hoping for a win though.

The first game of the Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon is underway between Winthrop University and Queens University at the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center. There is a pretty good crowd, and the announcers said the venue is sold out for the games today.
Here is the YouTube link to watch the first game- www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV9x7sfYnjg

Both teams are somewhat local teams for the early game, though the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center is technically a neutral court. Winthrop University is located in Rock Hill, though they play their home games in their own arena, the Winthrop Coliseum, on their campus, a couple miles away. Queens University is located in Charlotte, North Carolina, about 25 miles north of Rock Hills.
Winthrop leads at the half 40-35

First game, Winthrop vs Queens is heading into the fnal 8 minutes tied 63-63,
announcers kinda taking bets which coach will be the first in NCAA history to use their "Coach's Challenge"
(new rule in NCAA this season)

Queens is a very big, athletic team- getting to the hoop like Saint Louis did against us-
but they are not shooting well from outside (5-25, just 20%) and fouling too much.
Winthrop cashing in (17-21) from the FT line. One of Winthrop's best players is 25 y/o having gotten
extra years of eligibility for Covid and for NAIA.

Both schools are very close to the venue in South Carolina....prob why they chose to put this game 1st to get the stands full.
the crowd seems 65-70% or more Winthrop fans. Arena surprisingly full.
Winthrop's enrollment is about 6,000 and they've been a long time DI member (1987),
but Queens is new to DI and their school's enrollment is just 1,200.

Viewer counter on YouTube is 25,000-30,000 but hit a high of 42,000
Let's see what it hits with Bradley..

edit -
Final score Winthrop 81 - Queens 74
they had a couple shots of Bradley warming up then cut away - game starts in 45 min
Doubt the arena will be as packed for this game but hopefully we'll see a good number on the viewing meter.

One more note- hope someone tells Coach Wardle he can be the first coach in all of college basketball history
to use the COACH'S CHALLENGE, so go for it!

Queens had one former valley player Carson Schweiger, brother of Cooper Schweiger. Carson redshirted as a freshman at Wright State for Scott Nagy then transferred to Valpo last year and played with his brother. Third school in 3 years and only a redshirt sophomore

I have heard it's tough defense with more on-ball pressure, better rebounding...Not sure who the leader will be, though we have some candidates. Burch and Ja'Quan are pretty quiet vocally, so will be different not having the outspoken presence of Duke Deen.

The veterans (especially the newcomers) HAVE to step up, along with Burch's play-making and being more under control.
Montana Wheeler will be a pleasant surprise I'm thinking/hoping.

Or for those with a smart TV and voice command capability- tell it to go to "Field of 68 on YouTube", then scroll across until you see the St. Bonaventure-Bradley game. The video stream has not started yet, but will come on at 10:00 am Central
