Final: UIC 93 Bradley 86

I know he's a freshman but Wheeler needs to play better and step up his game down the stretch.

Very strange this team can still finish Top 3, but the 3 seed in Arch Madness is a terrible spot to be in. But I think it's more favorable for this team bc we likely lose the 4-5 game on neutral court but if we do get past, Belmont will take it to us on Sat.

Box score- https://bradleybraves.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2025-26/uic/boxscore/22704

Attendance 1,847, many of them were Bradley fans.
What the heck??? Game was not on ESPN+?? Looked so much toward watching the game and NOTHING!
Disappointed how few games were on ESPN+ this season compared to recent ones.
Then to find out we lost...bummer
Turns out I may not be going to Arch Madness if we end up in 6th place.

Glad I didn't make the trip 2nite.
Sad I couldn't watch the replay.
It was on ESPN+
Here is the replay- https://www.espn.com/watch/player/_/id/00e91d8e-11a6-4a13-8220-0e7bcccd244c

Thanks DC - they usually have the game available to watch within 1/2 hr of ending, but this one took 1.5 hrs. They actually had most of the 8:00 starts up before the 7:00 starts. Never had that happen b4. Watching now but not too exciting knowing the dismal outcome. LoL

Seeding possibilities for BU:
2nd: W v. Murray State, UIC loses at Indiana State
3rd: W v. Murray State, UIC wins at Indiana State (lose tiebreaker A with Flames, 0-2 head to head)
4th: L v. Murray State, UIC wins at Indiana State (lose tiebreaker A with Racers, 0-2 head to head); OR L v. Murray State & UIC loses (lose tiebreaker with UIC) Also requires UNI and Illinois State to both lose one of their last two games (one will happen for sure because they play each other)
MOST LIKELY: 5th: L v. Murray State, UNI or Illinois State wins last two and we finish tied with either (Will lose tiebreaker B to both because of NET); Even if Valpo ties in this scenario, they split with UNI and Illinois State, so they can't finish higher than 6th because they'll lose NET to everyone above them (round robin is useless because UNI, ISU, Valpo and BU split every game).
6th: I actually think this is impossible because of the round robin format. I know Hackman had it at 3% but I don't see it. UNI or ISU is going to have 9 losses no matter what and we win all tiebreakers with Valpo.

If I missed something, someone please correct me.

I watched it on ESPN+. They tend to put it up as an option 1-2 minutes before tip-off

No way there were that many
I was there - sounds about right. UIC had a decent crowd, certainly more students than we have on any given game day.

That was some of the worst reffing I've seen with my own two eyes. The flames played great and the refs didn't miss our free throws and ez layups, but MY GOD what an inconsistently called game. We obviously weren't prepared for their physicality, and when we finaly tried to match it in the 2nd the refs put their thumb on the scale. UIC in the bonus with 14:30 left??? Give me a break

Just cannot come out flat in the first half especially on the road and expect to win. Refs were bad but most of the ones this season that have officiated Valley games have been sub par. I think there have been a few crews that have done games that were very good and impartial. We have lost several veteran officials that over the years were really good and did many Tour. games. I am not going to agree about every call officials make but the only thing that should matter is to not be biased to one team.
I agree that Alex needs to get more shots and if you need to set more screens for him to do that figure out that plan. Albeck was a genius in how he was able to get his best shooters open looks.

After watching the replay, that was probably Bradley's 2nd worst game this month and we are 1 game from the reg. season ending!
I can't recall such a poor performance from a Braves' team this late in the season since the Covid season.
Not feeling good about Arch Madness, but maybe after Sunday's game I'll feel a bit better?

You cannot feel good one way or the other about this team because you never know which team or players are going to give a good performance on game day. I will just say expect the unexpected. The most important thing now is beat Murray St. at home and at least gain back some confidence going into the Tour.

Right on!

Edit. Unfortunately, there is a scenario where still can finish 6th. It's kind of insane, but if we lose Sunday, either ISU or UNI wins out AND Valpo wins out AND somehow UIC loses to Indiana State, then there's a four way tie for 3rd and we lose the round robin to everyone in that because our round robin record is going to be worse than any of the teams in that tiebreaker (UIC, UNI or ISU and Valpo).

The Tremendous College Basketball 🏀 game I attended last night is why the game is so exilerating!!!! Watching my Bradley Braves come back on the road down double digits made the entire night worthwhile!!! Yes it was a bummer they couldn't pull it out! But watching Alex H. 3 to send to OT was sweet. Then Bully with an amazing bucket and harm in OT, plus a another 3 to force 2nd OT! Bully had a chance to win for us in 1st OT, but missed and no foul called. I think being on the road, usually, the ref's calls don't go your way! plus we missed many FT. We had our chances to pull this out. We need to beat Murray State at home! Simple as that! We want a 2nd or 3rd seed so we end up playing a more tired team who will play in First round ( a 6th or 7th seed).A 4th seed plays a rested 5th seed....no advantage! Let's go Braves, Beat Murray on ESPN2 and see what we can do in St.Louis!!!!!

I wish I could be as upbeat as you Steve after last night! But glad you got to go and enjoyed the game! I think I'm more upset that ESPN+ didn't have the game up for replay until 75 minutes after the game ended and I was so looking fw to watching it. When they finally had it up, I already knew the score.

If Burch played like he should, we come away victorious. Unfortunately his game looks flat right now and continues to miss bunnies. Wish we had the O-Show who showed flashes of greatness vs Liberty and Wash St.

Things that happen almost every Bradley road game that infuriate me:

1. Seems to be about a 4 minute stretch that no matter what we do results in a foul for the other team on every possession....last night they rung up 7 fouls in 5 minutes that absolutely crippled us the remainder of the half.

2. Seems like we CANNOT get a foul in the act of shooting on a consistent basis...the other team will get free throws constantly while shooting, seemingly the worse the shot, with the least amount of contact draws the whistle.....its mind boggling sometimes

3. Too many times when we go to zone, the other teams' top 1 or 2 shooters get a wide open 3, or we allow too easy of penetration at the top of the zone , and it usually happens because we over rotate to non-shooters while in the zone....i'd rather just let the non shooeters have an open look and hopefully take the shot. Instead we will send 3 zone players to the corner to guard a guy who never shoots the 3 only to leave the shooter 1 rotation pass away with a clean look.....and it killed us twice last night, once was johnson, who got a wide open look off the zone(late in the game I might add after hed already made several), and another time it was crawford. We need more awareness of who we are guarding in the zone.

4. We dig a hole in the first half for no reason other than lethargy, then usually storm back and have to play twice as hard to make it up...last night it was too much to overcome.

Man this loss was so frustrating for a multitude of reasons.
