I'm afraid Ford is a good high school coach -- and is showing some fraility at Div I level....I don't think he HATES losing enough -- really at this level it is about W/L. Competitive coaches don't count "moral victories?"

As far as Lemon's performance, he was bottled up on doubles much of the game. Not a lot he can do without teammates and plays from coach.

Regarding him driving wildly in the final minutes, don't you think that is the type of play that Geno has called for the last two years? Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't-- there's not a lot of creativity in it. It appears he has a couple different plays though -- lemon to the right, lemon to the left and lemon down the middle.

I was a bit disappointed with 3-4 seconds to go at the end - that Bradley didn't have enough pride to try to make it closer - they dribbled out the clock. Admittedly, wouldn't have made a difference but that's the competitive spirit I'm looking for and that starts at the coach.

I can assure you (with certainty) that Geno hates losing regardless of your interpretation of the quote in the newspaper.
 
My Beef w/ Geno is the AB over NW at the 5. Give NW 34 mins against UNI and let the Great Auston Barnes ride the pine

Barnes gets praised again on the post game show for his defense lol ya Ford hes a shot blocking machine.


I'd rather see NW,XT even banged up,JP, over Barnes y does Walt get all the blame!

Great games from JS thats 2 in a row and NW but they got to watch as the game was lost!

Nate can't physically play for 34 minutes??¦.I believe Nate's stats would be similar whether he plays 12-14 minutes or 20-22 minutes
 
I bet if he starts getting 34 mins now by this time next yr hes ready for 34 mins.


Point is dont praise a guy who gives you 4 pts in 34 mins shoots .50% from the line.

The WL/ NW pick and roll was working and will work.

NW gave you more than AB in 12 mins!

Yes, I would say I have been. If I was not, please point it out. I was critical of Jim Les' coaching when it was not good, and certainly the media was. But now the media absolutely refuses to place any shred of blame on the coaching either for their game management, game preparations, or recruiting, and in fact praises them as if we had Coach K running things.

I think the only way Nate Wells could play 34 minutes would be if he were allowed 7 or 8 fouls. He doesn't move his feet well enough to play defense for that long.
 
I dunno if this team would respond to abuse or not.

If Wells fouls out of every game so be it ............Im sure he wouldnt be fouling 90 % shooters and Id also bet he blocks 2 shots a a game. And gets the 8 rebs a game Barnes is.


He sets a good post too.....but we arnt good at feeding the post

the second time they tried the pick and roll the defense deflected the ball out of
bounds??¦??¦there was 2-3 times though where Nate posted up and Walt didn't throw it in??¦I wish he would have just to see how it would go.

Well, I'll take your word for it. I'm not going to research too much, but I looked back at the Eastern Illinois postgame threads from 2010, and you are nowhere to be found after a game much more embarrassing than last night. But that's only one game, and the Bears are about to come on so I'm not going further.

I was critical of the way Sam played in that game, but he was clearly injured. Other players failed to step up. I did not think the coaching was the problem, it was turnovers and execution. However, there were many times I was critical of the coaching in previous years.

I agree OC,a rant is not in Geno's make up and I agree that doesn't solve our problems. Which are many. I'm still in Geno's corner but as the season progresses I'm really starting to question his recruiting. When you put his recruits with JP,NW,KB and Walt's refusal to play team ball, our short coming are pretty obvious.

It worries me as to how you can build a team when you run off a couple of your own recruits every season! Other than TP who is paying off?
