First time without a fall signee for Les?

Given the accolades Prosser received and the way many fans with inside knowledge spoke of him I admit to being very surprised he is being told to sit this year out. With only Singh providing returning experience inside I would've thought an impact freshmen would get a lot of PT right away. I never expected to read this.

IMO Jordan would have been a solid contributor as a 5 this year under different circumstances. However while he has the talent to develop into a 4, his current skill set makes him a 5. That being considered he is likely on par talent wise with the following 3 players who all would be considered to be a "5."

Sam Singh, 6th year player 6-9 240 lbs. reliable known quantity

Will Egolf, redshirt So., 6-9 232 lbs., projected starter, very quick and athletic 3rd year player who has shown the potential to be a difference making 5 man.

Anthony Thompson, redshirt So., 6-10 215 lbs., looks to have develped into a contributor.

The decision to redshirt JP was a solid one and in no way a knock against his talent or potential. The alternative would have been for him to share minutes with 3 other players during his first year.

Judging from you insulting post on Redbirdfan about Jordan, it's obvious this is more of a trolling/anti-BU post that one expressing real concern.

But this decision to redshirt can always be reversed if Coach les needs Jordan. However, with Sam Singh healthy, with Will Egolf looking like a 25-30 mpg player, and the progression of Anthony Thompson and Taylor Brown, redshirting JP will only make him better and benefits him and Bradley. Jordan is very talented, as evidenced by the interest that many BCS schools showed. And don't forget, Tim Jankovich also highly coveted Jordan. As good as Jordan is now, he will only get better with time. Can anyone name a big man who was an impact in the league as a true freshman?
That is the reason it's wiser for JP to redshirt.

Patrick O'Bryant! :D

Patrick was a force his sophomore season, but his freshman season was a little frustrating as we all could see his talent and potential, but he spent a lot of time on the bench in foul trouble, and underachieved a bit his freshman year.
Still his numbers were good for a freshman: 23 mpg, 10.0 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 75 blocks, and a team-leading 89 personal fouls and 4 foul-outs.

What exactly was insulting there Coach?? If he's not ready to play as a frosh in the Valley how would he have been ready in a BCS league? Maybe those BCS coaches thought the same thing? I know that is crazy but it's possible. :)

Of course it's not of any concern. I would say it's curiosity and uh.....I don't troll. Sorry to disappoint you.

I can't think of a true freshmen post that made an impact. I agree there. You can rationalize it anyway you want but if you answer it objectively and honestly given the hype and accolades of this player how can you not be surprised he's being red-shirted?

I think most of the Prosser playing heavy minutes comments were made in a different context.

Prosser was signed before SS was granted a 6th year. We knew nothing about any AT progress until Brazil, but still did not know enough until exhibition, and we were never sure about WE until this exhibition. If any of those 3 circumstances were different, JP would be in a position to play more this year.
I still think he would eventually do quite well if he was given the PT this year, but I am certain he will produce more in his 5th year.
So in comparison to what I knew in the Summer, I would be suprised JP is redshirting. A little less suprised this week, though.

The bottom line is even if JP would win FOY this year, he'll be better his 5th year. A few years ago, Bo Ryan (Wisc) redshirted a McD AA (the MVP I believe) center. While I do not think JP should of been a McD AA, I do not think it's completely strange JP redshirted. It's nice, real nice, when a quality big man redshirts.

I always thought that JP's expectation were to high on this site. Go figure! I may be a minority but I'm not shocked that he is being RS a little surprised but really happy about it. If we can afford this luxury that means our bigs are ready to do their thing. JP is a talent that needs to be put in a winning situation and the added year will do just that.

I would wet myself from pure glee if we could get those numbers out of a freshman, minus the fouls of course. lol

I just noticed that Cooksey & cpacmel are both in the 97th percentile of posters on BradleyFans....
seriously...you guy have each posted more here than 97% of our posters!!

I made a cursory attempt to see if even one BU poster is even inside your 5th percentile, and nope---
I know you guys had some problems with your post counters over there....but the most prolific BU guy I can find on your board is a guy with 13 career posts, with the next most being apparently a guy with only 1...

Do you guys have team-envy??
Is it the tradition, the packed houses, 12,000 fans, NCAA victories, and post-season titles, maybe the number of NBA players, the national recognition??
Come on...give us a hint, what causes that??
I have to suspect it is jealousy....true team-envy.

I think they have posters of Jim in those short basketball shorts in their bedrooms

I'm confused? All of these comments on Thompson's improvement.
Where and when did this happen? I certainly have not witnessed it yet.
10, or so, mediocre minutes in an exhibition game and he has received the stamp of imptoved:confused::confused::confused:?
I trust coach Les's judgement but, if Egolf cannot play 40 minutes, we have a problem at the 5.
Sam is what he is and Thompson?

I think AT's biggest improvement is mostly increased weight (from freakishly thin to thin) I'm guessing he finally met their (mutually established) goals to earn PT this year, and the staff is willing to keep up their end of the bargin as long as he is not a team detriment.

He did post some reasonable numbers in Brazil when SS had a bug. He did show a lot of promise in the Red/White game before redshirting. I still think AT has a bunch of potential, hopefully he stays hungry and eats his way to the top.

Remember SS started a few games last year! I expect to get at least 10 minutes a game from SS. Do not over look what he brings to the table guys! Solid player that made some huge plays for us last year. AT is a wait and see. He needs to prove his mettle during real game situations. There are practice players and then there are gamers.

Lets be real -- Egolf will play no more than 25 minutes. Singh and AT will complete the other 15, depending on who's hotter that day. Sometimes it'll be 7and 8 minutes each, somedays it might be 15 and nothing for the other.

Even without marked improvement from AT (which we really dont know yet), JP still likely wouldn't have a whole lot of minutes every game... mostly because it sounds like we have a realiable 5 in Egolf right now. Had that not been the case, JP would not have been redshirted. Book it.
