This has been my point. You just cannot say that:
Without injuries to Sam and Taylor this team would be (insert record here). Because without injuries Dodie and Andrew wouldn't be on this current roster. Doesn't make injuries any less legit but it's not as simple as plugging guys in the roster and saying things would be better.
You don't get to pick and chose which players you want and when. Man, if only Anthony Parker had been 13 years younger this team would be awesome

No, Egolf would be the same age as he is. Being around one more year doesn't make one better. I don't concede that.
But if you do concede that then how good wood DSE be? He has been an all-league type guy the last month or so. Would he even be playing minutes in our "all healthy" scenario? This is why "what if" scenarios are exercises in futility.

Look, you get 13 scholarship players. We played only 7 last night. 2 were available and DNP-Coach's Decision. 2 were not available due to injury. 1 is on hold for a probable redshirt. 1 walk-on did play. That leaves one unused.
I get the injury argument, and you can play that card to an extent. But that stops when you still have 11 opportunities to counter that (not counting walk-ons), and basically only half of that can be utilized.

Whatever happens to JL at BU, his legacy should be he turned around a struggling program, injected enthusiasm into the fan base, recruited local kids, got to the S-16 and NIT, and helped spearhead development of a MVC best training/practice facility for the BU MBB program.
Plus was a great husband and father while in a job that makes both of these very difficult...

The program wasn't struggling when Les got here. We were a year removed from a 2nd place MVC finish and title game appearance.
That being said, once time has passed and wounds have healed, we will remember the influx of Peoria talent, the amazing Sweet 16 run, an NBA lottery pick, the best 3 point shooting team in the nation, a win over Illinois, and new men's practice facilities that are as good as any program's in the country. Sure, there may be some shortcomings to the past 9 years that we aren't happy with, but the items mentioned above are not a bad legacy to have at all.

with granger,tucker gilly gilbert and cello on the roster.
the other stuff fine...
but why should his legacy be 9 years without higher than a 4th place finish, 2 play in game losses, and all the other bad stuff

And as I have said, on the whole, you could argue that Les has done pretty close to the same as every other BU coach in the modern era. I tried to show in the "no opinions...just facts" thread that you could provide stats to support every position, and that BU basketball is at its best when some recruit just comes in and goes nuts, regardless of coach (JJ, Hawk, AP, POB.) Without that player, can we only reach a certain level of success? Is there a ceiling to Bradley basketball? I don't know the answer. If you say no, are you just saying that because you don't want there to be one?
Les has not come in and taken the program to a new sustainable level. The question is, based on whatever factors, is that even possible? If not, and we are who we are, who better than a beloved alum who would do anything for his university to lead your team?
That is for the bosses to decide.

Yes. A 2nd place finish after a period when he was not actively recruiting top-flight talent. He had a couple seniors that had nice seasons and 3 promising FRESHMEN who were the core of the team and the next year saw an even greater influx of what would have been program changing players.

JL was allowed to lead his university's team for almost a decade because he was a beloved alum who would do anything for his university...
Evolution demands change. With survival of the fittest the apparent rule of the planet, BU must keep trying to find a leader who can move the program forward, regardless if one believes there is a ceiling on BU MBB performance, or perish...

Sometimes guys just stay too long, and that has been the case with the last couple coaches at BU...
Like some said, Les will have a legacy that will never be erased...while they never finished with a championship, he does have the new buildings and the Sweet 16 to remember him by and through everything he has been a class act...
Sometimes it's just right to move on and give someone else the opportunity...plus he could probably tell you a few years from now, if Bradley has great success, that he's happy for the program. He is just that type of guy.
Plus if he wants to stay in coaching somewhere, he'd make somebody one heck of a recruiter...he's an outstanding salesman on a program.
