Former Bradley players with eligibility elsewhere

Now we have a whole new crop of ex-Bradley guys playing elsewhere- a couple still haven't found a place to play, yet.

Pop Weathers- still looking for a place to play his final year
Rienk Mast - returns for one more season at Nebraska
Trey Pettigrew- at EMU in 2024-25 but still in the portal and hasn't landed anywhere for 2025-26
Emarion Ellis- at Nicholls State
Connor Hickman- final year at College of Charleston but still hoping to get an NCAA waiver for a 5th year
Kyle Thomas- at SIUE
Almar Atlason- at Miami (OH)
Goanar Biliew- still hasn't landed anywhere yet
Mayar Wol- still hasn't landed anywhere- kinda disproves the silly notion expressed elsewhere that he was lured away by a bigger school
Christian Davis- likely done but was still appealing to NCAA for another year

Yeah- I know nobody cares.. but
Charleston revealed their non-conference schedule and they play two MVC teams, Drake (11/17) and Belmont )11/30).
There's also a chance they could play a third MVC team, Evansville, in the Paradise Jam in the US Virgin Islands, if they both make it to the
Championship game.

Then, Charleston hosted their fans for an OPEN PRACTICE yesterday, something I have always wanted to see Bradley do in the summer.
Here's a video report, Connor Hickman is #10, wearing a white jersey- https://www.live5news.com/video/202...open-practice-fans-talk-team-chemistry-depth/

Their head coach Chris Mack says they plan to "do some more" of these events in the fall.

Hopefully Connor gets awarded another year to play because I think he can have a big year for Charleston. I don't see why these other MVC schools can get someone like a Charleston but not us. That's the perfect school for us to be scheduling a home and home series.

Oh, and to update the post above, Goanar landed down the road at Western. I think that's a great place for him to hopefully get some PT.

good find- hopefully he will have a good chance to play there - LINK

In Re: Connor Hickman - there's a story out of IU about a couple of their guys that may be bad news for Connor Hickman....

Anthony Leal, who only played 11 games in 2022-23 for IU, and was seeking a waiver from NCAA for an extra year. However, he was just denied.
NOTE that 11 games is LESS than the number that Connor Hickman played last year (13) - and he's still awaiting word on his request for a waiver.
ALSO- former Illini player Luke Goode, who also played at IU last year, was seeking a waiver as well, he played just 10 games in 2022-23,
when he was with Illinois. He just heard also from NCAA that his request was DENIED, so his career is over and he & Leal will not play this year.
New Indiana head coach Darian DeVries was holding two open scholarships for them but now he's stuck with those two open scholarships
and less than a month before the fall semester starts.

Another kid, Tyon Grant-Foster, is also in the news waiting for a waiver. His case is really interesting.
He spent two seasons at juco (Indian Hills), then one season at Kansas, then two seasons at Depaul where he played only one game due to health issues.
Then he starred at Grand Canyon the past two seasons and then transferred to Gonzaga, expecting to get another, EIGHTH year of eligibility.
But he's still waining to hear.

This kid just got a 7th year of eligibility, he played only 9 games in 2024-25.

Lastly- with Goanar landing at WIU, that leaves just one past Bradley player who is still apparently floating in the portal and hasn't landed anywhere. Trey Pettigrew, who spent 2022-23 at Nevada, then transferred to Bradley for 2023-24 but left before playing in a regular seasons game, then played last year at EMU, but then went to the portal in March and still hasn't committed anywhere else. I think unless you have a lot of talent, the tendency to transfer every year probably makes schools reluctant to recruit you.

College basketball writer Jeff Goodman just sat in on a practice at Charleston...

he said this about Connor Hickman...
(in the photo - LINK - Connor can be seen at the far left, maroon jersey standing along the sidelines
with his arms folded. He was seen in a video from a couple days ago (#10) during an open practice - LINK )

"Just watched College of Charleston practice and even without a few guys that were held out due to minor injuries...
...Seniors Jlynn Counter and Connor Hickman both out with minor injuries, and that could wind up being the starting backcourt."

....so... more injury problems?

FWIW-
Rienk Mast is now 15 month post knee surgery and has been fully cleared. His coach said:
"Rienk Mast has been cleared for full contact and will scrimmage on Tuesday with the full team."
I liked Rienk and wish him well, but am still disappointed we couldn't have had him the past two seasons,
He would have made a huge difference
