Funny Steve Lavin Story

Ex-UCLA coach Steve Lavin is getting married.
But apparently they were taken by surprise that people actualy RSVP'ed to their invitations, and they found themselves with way too many people coming and they didn't want to host a big crowd, so they pulled some last minute changes (the wedding is in just a month) and they also pulled the carpet right out from under the very people they invited!

They have decided to just fly to Europe and get married somewhat secretively over there and revoke the invitation from all the people who had RSVP'ed (some of whom maybe had already re-arranged their own schedules!)

Here is the text of the e mail (not even the courtesy of a letter) they sent the people who had RSVP'ed to their wedding invitation:

"Unexpectedly we have received a stunning 95% RSVP on sent out wedding invitations. As a result, our wedding guest list has far exceeded the maximum capacity for a traditional ceremony and reception at The Montage Resort.

"After giving serious consideration to alternative plans we have decided the best option at this late stage is to head to Europe to create a magical wedding day.

"Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconveniences this change in our wedding plans may have caused you.

"We are sorry that we will not be able to share our big day with family and friends. We will be sure to send you photos of our wedding upon our return from Europe.

" Please confirm that you received this email.

"Thanks in advance for your understanding.

"Warm regards,
Steve & Mary"

Has anyone checked Snopes or elsewhere? I find this so classless and hard-to-believe that it must be an internet hoax............At least I hope so :roll:
 
B4L, some thought it was a hoax, but as you can see from the links, several sources are reporting it is legitimate,
including one source within the LA Times...so the story seems to have solid legs.......
 
I met Lavin(and Erin Andrews) a couple of years ago at a Minny-Illinois game. He was a heckuva nice guy and was real easy to talk to.....kind of funny to change plans because of RSVP rate
