Here's an observation...

of course we all know Geno did poorly at Bradley - he never won, was overpaid, then extended and cost us a fortune to buy him out, and we are only now digging out of that hole..

BUT - in June 2016, Geno joined the staff of Jeff Boals at Stony Brook and since then they have done a good job at Stony Brook...
they have rebuilt the program & are off to a very good start this year-
beating South Carolina and they have four really good scorers...including one guy, a kid from London named Akwasi Yeboah, who could be their conference Player of the Year.

So I think this proves something I have always believed - that Geno was not the whole problem - the problem here at Bradley came from higher up and Geno was doomed from the start.

I'm not shocked that Geno's level of performance could be overcome in an assistant role at a decent program. And no, he wasn't the whole problem nor was he the root cause of the problem. Human pride and ego was.

I actually found Geno to be a pretty nice guy and maybe even a decent coach - but not a great recruiter and certainly not good with discipline and his practices were pure chaos with the inmates running the asylum. But I also think nobody can do a good job at the DI level with such incompetence and meddling coming from directly above and even further up the chain of command.

I think this is a pretty accurate and fair assessment of Geno Ford. Geno can be a decent coach if he stays at the right level and has an administration that turns a blind eye to recruiting players of character and/or academic excellence. Jim Les is another pretty good example of a decent coach who has been able to build a program and excel at a lower level.
