Good Article on Danny Granger

Great story. I admire Danny and his father.
The thing that Danny stresses is that he had a strong father who influenced him down the right path in life.

There are way too many kids who do not have a father in their lives, or their fathers don't care enough to be a true father. Sometimes a strong mother can accomplish the same things by herself, but it doen't happen enough. Unfortunately, the government welfare system rewards one-parent families, and there is nobody holding the absent fathers accountable. But there is a lot of blame to go around.
It's too bad we celebrate the rare success of someone like Danny, when his story should be the normal opportunity and experience that all kids have to become sucessful.

Oh, I'm so excited for a guy who LEFT Bradley under a shaddy situation.

-- how sorry do we feel for people "caught" in the drug and gang lifestyle when it IS what they choose and when much of society glorifies it and mainstreams it with their music, clothing, and media influence?

-- if America is the land of opportunity, then why are those people "caught" at all? Why can't they leave? Are they not eligible for the same government support elsewhere?

Unbelievable....

Ditto Chico and GTD.

I also agree, the less I hear about him the better I like it. Also I think BU should close the door on this guy as ever playing here as it was not a good relationship or experience! Remember the guy would show disrespect to our country during the National Anthem by standing is the entrance way and not on the floor with the other players! Now he is out there sucking up all he can get, after so many that he showed NO Respect for that laid it on the line just so he would be able to. BS on this Guy!

Agree 100%. Maybe he's grown up, maybe he's matured, and maybe I don't care. He burned the bridge, I have no desire to rebuild it.

So BU should pretend he didn't play here? I guess we should white out the archives like he never existed.....or maybe change his name to John Doe in all the archives....

My guess is there was lessons learned by everyone. I don't mind cutting a 19-20 year old a little slack once in awhile...

Agreed. People act like Danny went on a shooting rampage on campus. He was 19 years old. Sheesh, I hope everyone doesn't keep ripping on me for something I did when I was 19-20---that list would be a long one.

Why can't people just wish the guy success and move on? Outside of his situation at Bradley there hasn't been one single negative incident regarding Danny Granger. All he did at New Mexico was lead his team to the NCAA Tournament and then for the Pacers he is a very good player and All-Star--without once having any off the court issues.

I would say his good far outweights his bad. He played at Bradley and I am proud of that.

Ha lefty, like I said I have no problem for personally forgetting this guy was at BU or for that matter ever knowing of him. I know the BU thing will never happen. As for the 19-20 year old slack thing, I am a forgiving person and a second chance person. But in this case no thanks! I might tend to forget the missing the bus thing, the leaving of the team/school thing to go home to daddy, all the other negative things he brought to the team (12-43 while he was here) and maybe the back door negotiation's thing with New Mexico. BUT NOT the thumbing his nose at the National Anthem and to all the 17,18,19&20 year olds and all the rest that have severed/died for this country, Hell No. We put guns in their hands not basketballs and we held them accountable for their actions. Daddy may of taught his son about BB but he forgot to take his son to a national cemetery to show him where the real hero's are and the ones that gave him a chance to play BB for a living!

Oh sheesh. He didn't "thumb his nose" at the National Anthem. It wasn't a political statement. It had to do with his religious beliefs. People need to get over this.

What religion says you can't stand on the court with your teammates while your country's anthem is being played?
