Couple days late but Happy Birthday to the Bradley head coach with more post-season tournament wins than any other in 60 years!

a remote MVC connection....

Jim Les' long time assistant and "General Manager" Tom Abatemarco is retiring (76 y/o).
Many will recall that Abatemarco was head coach of Drake in the 1980's and has work on staff of 19 different NCAA schools,
including St. John's, NC State, Colorado, Rutgers, Utah, Tulsa, FGCU, Drake and others.
Long time assistant Kyle Vogt, who has been with Jim Les since back at Bradley, has been promoted to ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH.

Happy Birthday Coach Les.I still follow him at UCDavis
UC Davis has moved from the Big West Conference, where they have been competitive for many years under Coach Les, and they will be in the Mountain West Conference this season. The Mountain West is rebuilding itself after Boise State, San Diego State, Colorado State, Fresno State, and Utah State left to join the new version of the PAC-12. So the Mountain West will not be as strong as they have been over the past few years, but it will still be a test for UC Davis- more travel and a bit tougher conference opponents.
Good luck to Coach Les!
Here are the teams in the new Mountain West Conference for basketball-

The opponents of UC Davis are attractive for their fans to travel to welcoming sites. However, most of them would necessitate travel by air planes.

Mountain West has far better media deals than the Big West

But UC-Davis’ conference affiliation is terribly confusing-

UC-Davis football competed in the Big Sky Conference

UC-Davis Women’s Lacrosse competes in the Big 12 - LINK

UC-Davis Men’s Water Polo and Beach Volleyball still compete in the Big West but next year will be in the West Coast Conference

UC-Davis field hockey, STUNT, women's gymnastics, and women's indoor track and field all compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF)

UC-Davis Women’s Water Polo currently competes in the Golden Coast Conference

Basketball and all other sports are now in the Mountain West.

Prob the worst combination of conference affiliations of any school ever.
