Hick at U Cincy

Such a shame watching him ride the bench as Cincy is losing at home by nearly 20.
Hick's numbers on the season are very low and his high-scoring game was 14 early in the season.

He's been struggling mightily and now is a reserve, avg. about 15 mpg and is scoreless in the last 3 games.
 
As I posted this, Hick has entered the game and the Bearcats have scored 4 straight with 2 monster dunks.
Let's hope Hick's presence and veteran play will be a catalyst in their comeback in the 2nd half.

Cincinnati is ranked 16th so at least he's on a team that most assuredly will be dancing in mid March!
 
He was a starter the first month of the season, but he's struggled with injury problems since then. But Cincinnati is loaded with other big, talented guards.
 
I appreciate the contributions he made when with Bradley. But that’s history. He gone. No interest in him at Cincinnati.

Honestly my affinity to Hick and Eli are about the same. Childs actually helped our program more during his time - minus the final season.
They were both very passionate players. Neither are in my Top 10 of all the Wardle recruits.
 
There are so many guys to like this season - hard to choose "favorites"...but since you guys are asking...(LOL)

I think without Zek's return to BU, this team is at about 9-5. He's not a dominant player, but a difference maker and guy who stepped up to replace Hick.

Elijah got absolutely screwed over by an incredibly weak president. The only thing he MIGHT have done was broken team rules. Instead the president hung him out to dry. I can't blame him one bit for moving on.
 
D.Brown and E. Childs were two of Wardles best players and led them to two tour. titles and which should have been 2 NCAA appearances. They were each named MVP of the Tour. I would find it hard for anyone to beat that accomplishment. DLO would also have to be included with them.
 
Wardle's hands were 100% tied in the Childs situation - he was not allowed to even speak about it.
The actions were 100% from the President who allowed him to stay in school and get his degree but nothing else,
he was never allowed to be involved in any team activity. He did break curfew rules, but was never charged with anything
and was the victim of a setup and false accusations.

Thanks for that info, Yoda. I'm glad to hear that BW had nothing to do with it, because I find the Childs incident to be the biggest debacle in the BW era. I feel terrible for him to have his career at BU end the way it did. He was honestly one of the most dominant players we've ever had, and I'd like to see the fence mended and find a way to get him back on campus, though I imagine that's a pipe dream.
 
Hickman is still one of Cincy's best 6 or 7 players, esp defensively, but he has struggled offensively against Power Conference big guards
...averaging 4.3 ppg, but scoreless (0-8 ) in his last 4 games and averaging just 1.6 ppg (5-29 shooting) over their last 9 games.
Also just 2-17 from 3-pt in that span.

Totally with ya on this Tommy. Childs was the closest talent we've had to NBA, other than the recent contract for Malevy, since POB.
He was a beast for a couple seasons and actually pretty solid for the Covid season which we'd all rather forget.
