How can you not love this?

A non biased view what do you guys think of Ruff and JC's draft potential if any? it seems to me that they lack the height to be able to go on the the next level, but i could be wrong.

somehow I can picture scouter saying
......Howard Nathan...never, he's too small...
......Kyle Korver.....never, too slow
......(and as many, many people said over on a certain other board when he first got to BU and even struggled down at the RiverPlex)....
......Patrick O'Bryant.....never, doesn't have the skills nor the potential.

;) ;) ;)

Here's another basketball analyst.....

Improved his stock with his post-season play but won't play in the NBA:
Jeremy Crouch
David Collins

Hurt his stock with his post-season play and will play in the NBA:
OJ Mayo
Bill Walker
Eric Gordon
Kyle Singler

I agree with you on DC, maybe across the water! Depends on next yr.
As for JC, I think there's a chance for the NBA. He's 6'5'", can shoot the lights out, shown he can go to the hoop, handle the ball and can deliver (pass) the ball. After all JL made it!!!! I hope it happens for both of them!

I like JC's chances of playing profesional ball over DR.

DR is too small. Yes I know there are point guards that have played in the NBA that are 5'9" and smaller, but those guys were outstanding at their game (A+). I would put DR's game at better than average (B+).

I think DR had some decent draft buzz before his injury, but the injury really took all of that away. That being said, I'm betting he'll be invited to Portsmouth Invitational and get some looks. If they like what they see he could get a chance in the NBA somewhere. When I watch some of his incredible passes that aren't caught in the post sometimes, I wonder how many assists he could wrack up throwing the ball to NBA players. I think if he did play in the NBA, he would really have trouble scoring because of his height, but he can handle and pass well enough to play point.

JC, I didn't think so before the second half of this season. Now, though, I think he'll get a good long look. He's an elite shooter who's tall enough, and has displayed his many other considerable skills on the court of late. If he wants to play for pay I think he can... With an outside shot at an NBA opportunity.

I agree. I think JC will enter the NBA draft and at least make a team, if not go to the D-league at least for while. If not, I am sure he could play in one of the elite leagues in Europe. However, I doubt he goes to Europe, unless he REALLY wants to keep playing. I've also heard that JC wants to coach, so he may end up trying to do that soon.

Yeah, now that you mention it, I think I do recall saying all those things.

In all seriousness though, JC and Korver are fairly comparable players. But I think Korver has a little longer range and a quicker release (just based on seeing the two of them), which IMO gave him a better shot at getting to the NBA than JC does. Korver also had the benefit of being by far the biggest star on his team and had the added publicity of playing in the NCAA tournament. I do think JC can have a very successful career overseas if he opts to go that route.

If JC would have stayed 100% healthy throughout his career he would have a much better shot at playing professional basketball.

He is so much better off the dribble then I would have ever imagined, he handles the basketball beyond any expectation I had ever thought of for him and he can be as deadly a jump shooter as there is within college basketball.

BUT... he still can be a step slow defensively and I am afraid his knees could not hold up playing games more often as they do professionally.

If Aba Koita, Angelo Flanders etc can get paid to play basketball I believe JC can also, it probably is a decision he has to make more based on his health.

I do not see him playing in the NBA but I would have said the samething about Blake Ahern. Lots of times its about timing versus ability.

Ruffin, will play for money also. I also believe Wilson and Warren will also eventually get paid to play.

Let me play the part of basketball analyst......

Improved his stock with his post-season play:
Tyler Hansbrough
Stephen Curry
Jeremy Crouch
David Collins

Hurt his stock with his post-season play:
OJ Mayo
Bill Walker
Eric Gordon
Jamarcus Ellis
Everyone on the entire Duke team

Are we talking about the Bill Walker from Kansas St.? Did you watch him play against USC? He may not have played well against the Badgers but against USC he was an absolute horse. The guy dominated that game (especially in the first half). I don't think his stock went down at all.

What about Muggsy Bogues (5'3"), Earl Boykins, and all of the other NBA players under 6 feet tall (including Jim Les)?

Dee Brown was one of the better point guards of his graduating class
in fact he won the Bob Cousy award...
what is he doing now?

riding the bench for the Jazz.

he's at about 9 minutes a game. averages 1.9 pts a game. and is shooting like .25 something from beyond the arch.

height = 6' 0" I hear from a reliable source (my brother who has walked next to dee brown at UofI) that he fluxuates between 6 feet and 5 10...depending on what shoes he wears...:)

as much as short people are talented in Collegiate basketball, the talent in the NBA right now and physical dominance of big men (esp. in the guard position) are going to prevent Ruffin from being in the draft. He can go to Europe and play there...and probably do very well for himself, but I doubt any team would want a short PG, who's 3 has been off lately, and has had recent injuries.
daniel ruffin = 5' 10"...no matter what shoes you put on him

BUconner, how dare you say something positive about Bradley players on a Bradley board. There will always be at least one poster who doesn't like that.

alright people...

BUconnOrD

also...

i think Crouch has a shot at making it...at least to a D-League team. He needs to work on his ball handling and driving to the hoop. But if a team wants a solid shooting guard...they'd have one in JC

just sayin...the Bulls can always use another shooting guard....:)

ESPN's Chad Ford lists who has helped and who has hurt their stock..

He names Hansbrough, Love, Curry, Rose, and Augustine as having helped their stock

He also names Brandon Rush, Darrell Arthur, Sherron Collins, and Chris Lofton as having hurt their stock..

I will add one more that I think has hurt their stock....Dan Dakich....it might be a long time before this guy gets hired anywhere else.......IU kinda fell apart under his tuteledge.
