For Carver. (sorry) PCC is getting a NEW VIDEO SCOREBOARD. At least that is the plan. This is huge IMO. That old one (5 years) ******.

They say the 5 y/o board is outdated from a technical standpoint. I contend it was never "in" date.

That thing has been a joke from day one.

Lets hope the new one is BIGGER, Clearer and the envy of the Valley and all visitors.

I'm hoping for no more commercials but I guess a new fancy board probably will mean more commercials.

Maybe there is a "rule" against it but I always wondered why we didn't use the video to pump up the crowd. On a "bad" call show the replay during a timeout and whip us into a frenzy.....

If we played a re-play everytime there was a bad call, we'd blow the circuits on that new videoboard in about 5 minutes due to overuse. ;)

I don't think the board was clear enough to point out a mistake by the official. It would have to be something obvious.

One thing that I thought was missing was stats. I know I'm asking for too much with in game stats, but how hard would it be to show that player x is shooting (24-42) 57% from the free throw line when he steps up to shoot a pair. Can it be that hard to preload stats?

Another thing that would be nice is if they would show scores from other games. I know Paul Herzog announces them at times but it would be nice if they could post them on the scoreboard from time to time.

In the paper this morning. I knew not many would see it since it wasn't under the sports section (wink). I can't recall what section it was in. It was more "front page" stuff since it was budget related.

It shouldn't but it did surprise me when they said the technology was outdated seeing that it was 5 years old. WOW.

It EXACTLY why I won't by a Big Screen plasma yet....(wink again)

I have two thoughts, the first being that I never thought the old/present scoreboard was all that bad.
I am not sure I would toss it out and get a new one, especially for that cost.

Second, I suspect it will sell lots of advertising just to help pay for it, and then you get all the annoying commercials during timeouts even more than before, etc. that I hate to see overheard in the arena.

Maybe the PCC is getting a new scoreboard to be more hockey-friendly (and maybe less hoops-friendly).

Didn't the hockey coach or owner say the hockey team is the #1 team in Peoria just a couple years ago?

Whether or not the current one is out-dated, I think this is a good thing because it's just another new upgrade that the coaching staff can show recruits. I know a scoreboard isn't something that is going to make a recruit choose BU, but it certainly can't hurt.

I know I am probably dreaming here but I would love to see a board similar to what the U of I has at Assembly Hall.

It seems that the PCC has a habit of half a$$ing some of the things that they do. I hope that they spend the cash and do this right. Get the latest, greatest scoreboard that is available and be done with it!
