Huge get....

The people who decided to buy the scoreboard are the same committee who decided on the sculpture out in front that is used for numerous purposes. :-)
And they are going to purchase the new scoreboard from the same company that sold them the first set of retractable arena chairs a couple years ago.

Didn't the hockey coach or owner say the hockey team is the #1 team in Peoria just a couple years ago?

I can't imagine this to be true. I've never been to a Riverman game, so I can't specualte on attendence figures but one obvious difference between the two is that the Riverman don't have a tv deal with one of the Peoria stations, do they?

I don't think the Rivermen are the #1 team in Peoria, but it is true the owner said it.

Bruce Saurs, owner of the Peoria Rivermen, when talking up his team on October 6, 2005 (from the PJStar, and I would provide a link, but the link is outdated and dead):

"the Rivermen ...set a franchise record for season ticket revenue...This is a big-time thing for Peoria. Our local economy will benefit - our head coach, assistant coach, trainer and equipment manager all came in and bought houses around here."

"Bradley University basketball in the Missouri Valley is a mid-major at best, and it's not going to get any better than that. The Peoria Chiefs have a good operation, in a low class-A league. The Peoria Rough Riders? That's not even pro sports. It's a semi-pro mess that's insignificant in the community.

"We aren't the only game in town. But we're the biggest..."

If I would have known of that quote I would never have bought my car from his dealership! Next time I may not.

"Last season, Bradley faithful remained loyal to the program and averaged 9,338 fans, keeping the Braves near the top 50 in the nation in home attendance."

4 games with 11,000+
5 other games with 10,000+

Maybe we should use the scoreboard money on the floor instead...just a thought

What will come first? Cubs win the World Series, or BU returns to campus for Men's Basketball games. I hate that doggone ice under the floor.

Well looks like the biggest team in Peoria is a joke. What a moron, maybe he should take a look at actual numbers before making rediculous statements. Peoria is a basketball town and hockey/the Riverman will always be the runner up to BU Hoops no doubt aboit it.

I actually heard from someone who he said he heard from someone else that it won't be til the year after.

Take that for what it's worth.

LOL

;)

Not to hijack, but is having microphones by the cheerleaders so their voices boom through the arena legal?

MM is hijacking away.... ;)

I was amazed at how loud they get piped for everyone else in the arena. I think it is awesome.

Not sure of the legality.... but I have a lot of confidence in everyone involved that must know the legal issues... we must be alllllllll gooooood!

During the Ohio game, a fan under a mic would let out a perfectly timed (split second before the shooter's release) high, loud screech. I think Ohio went 1-7 at the end of the game while that happened!

I think a perfectly timed (split second before the release) noise and/or coordinated wave to one side are the most effective FT distrations. (vs contionious loud random noise / waving baloons randomly...)

Just got confirmation from a friend who works for the PCC.

His exact words:

"Not going to happen until next summer. Summer of '09."

I think if they want more advertising and simultaneously create a higher energy atmosphere at the same time, then need to replace the stationary back-lit signs with a pro-style video ribbon around the bowl. (there's riim between the upper and lower bowl)

The stationary back-lit ads look horrible on TV coverage(all-white light blobs) and add to the appearance that the seating is really dark.
