Illini vs. Mizzou in Bragging Rights Game

Illini fans are going to love watching this on ESPN since Bobby Knight is doing the game..

It's on ESPN2 @ 8PM so we can watch after the Bradley game...

The BU link says there's no video of the Bradley game - but the Big Ten networks is telecasting the BU-Michigan game starting at 5:30PM (cable TV station 64 for most Comcast viewers)

Wish I could spend the whole night watching my favorite 2 hoops teams...don't get the wrong idea, Illini are a very distant #2, but I still root for them.
Packing for trip to see family in Ft. Myers, FL tonight - so I can only watch a little of the BU game.

The Illinois-Mizzou game was an entertaining game and the Illini can be very good..they just need to play a little better defense on the fast break...

Mizzou got a lot of help and went to the line 23 times - had that game had the same refs as the BU game where they let them bang, I think the Illini win it..

The best team playing in Saint Louis last night was not at the Scottrade Center. They were playing 2 miles away at Chaifetz Arena.

Mizzou and Illinois are both terribly overrated.

Maybe, but Majerus' team isn't?

St. Louis has played a very weak schedule- SOS over 200 with only 1 game against any team with an RPI less than 100.
In fact they have only played 2 teams with a winning record, and one of them (Villanova) is only 6-5.

wow - I am curious how you see that -- Illinois was rated behind 24 other teams, and I'd like to know which team that's behind them in the rankings deserves to be ahead of them?
Harvard? Stanford - who lost last night at home? Gonazaga - who Illinois beat?
And Mizzou has blown out everyone by 25 until last night - beating every ranked them they've played.

If you mean to say Saint Louis should be ranked above Illinois - then come out and say it - you're entitled to think that but 10 pt wins over SIUE and a couple blowouts against Alabama State, Arkansas State, and Vermont can hardly swing anyone's opinion your way! They need to play someone in the top 100 RPI
SLU has played only ONE team whose RPI is better than 100 and overall their SOS is about 200!

Yet they still have a higher "real time RPI" than both Mizzou and Illinois. Not that RPI really says much at this point of the year.

SLU is a very talented and very well coached team that will make some serious noise in the A10 and the tourney. On a neutral court, I would take SLU to win by double digits over Illinois, and a toss up vs. Mizzou.

Want to talk about cupcake scheduling, look at Mizzou's schedule. One that would make ISU proud. Cal and Nova are the only fairly decent teams they've played. They have some great shooters, but their overall discipline leaves something to be desired.

I just don't see this Illinois team faring well in Big10 play. They just aren't that good. They looked better last night than they did vs. UNLV and mighty Cornell. I think much like last year they will get a gift invite mostly because of conference strength, but suspect they finish 9-9 or 8-10 in conference. That may be enough to save Bruce's job for another year?
