New Iowa State head coach Greg McDermott has really been busy.
He yanked the scholarships of a couple of his curent players in order to free up something to work with, and in the past 4 days, Corey McIntosh and Ross Marsden are gone from the team.
Then he signs Clayton Vette (whose only other ofers were from Indiana State, Drake, and Illinois State), and a skinny freshman, Jordan Dykstra commits to lock up a scholarship well into the future and the kid hadn't even played a single game of high school basketball yet.
Add to that guys like Lucca Staiger, Marcus Brister, Diante Garrett, Wes Eikmeier, Dominique Buckley, and even Dodie Dunson who McDermott has landed....many of whom are from tiny little Iowa schools but all of whom were considered mid-major prospects, but McDermott wanted them anyway.
Ok...this should give McDermott a decent chance to say he's a great coach, since he really isn't getting many kid that aren't midmajor talent.
Maybe he can improve on that 4-11 finish down the stretch last year.
