Iowa St. Court Flooded

maybe there's an answer to this question...but if the flooding was from storms that have taken days to get the water levels up...then was there not a plan to take the court up of the arena floor and sandbag the entrances?

Actually, the water level didn't rise over much time at all...the river was at a normal level just 60 hours ago and rose rapidly due to something like 15 inches of rain over a couple of days time.

Although I consider bashing Iowa State a favorite hobby, this rain and flooding came out of nowhere and there wasn't much school officials could do. Luckily the river is receding very quickly and should be below flood stage within 36 hours. A similar scenerio happened in Iowa City in 2008 where the Iowa River had a sustained flood that rose quickly, but it stayed above flood stage for weeks (and caused a quarter billion in damage to school buildings and property).

the Civic Center folks can get the entire basketball playing surface up and stored in under and hour......

But, could anything other than a Cat dozer get our practice court up in less than an hour?
