ISU player out...

Dom with tonsilitis.....

Well, had they lost last night I would say that the door for 2nd was wide open. Even without Dom, I don't see them losing at home on senior night. If he was going to miss some time though, I have preferred it to be when we play them in St. Louis.

I knew he was out sick a few days ago, but this is the first I am hearing about tonsilitis and a long term absence.

Yes...thankyou. :) And if anyone has had it you'll understand there is NO gaurantee he will be back anytime soon.

I'm not glad thats the case just pointing out the possible scenario.

I also find it funny that the "out indefintley" (OI) designation that BU got railed for by some ISU fans regarding Ruffin is now being treated as business as usual.

I have never understood how some thought that designation (OI) was some "ploy" or "lie" by BU and that they new a along when he would return....puhleeeeeeze.

guys.....abscess in tonsils = really bad tonsillitis, it can totally wipe a guy out.
I have never known anyone who had tonsillitis that bad that could bounce back in under a week.

Well, that's over 2 weeks away...so he'd likely be at least 75-80% but it still might be hard to get to 100%.
Think of a bad case of mono and how it can wipe you out for a couple weeks.
The tonsils are part of your immune system and when a bad infection overwhelms you and then you have to have the surgical drainage, it'll usually wipe you out like mono.
I am sure he'll be playing by St. Louis, just maybe a thread under 100%
He's a senior and I am sure he'll give it everything he can to play.

Many on this board know that Jim Les also recruited Dom and wanted him to be a Brave, but he saw a good opportunity for instant playing time and chose ISU.

Dom was back on the bench yesterday.........still may be out "a couple weeks"

The Pantagraph reports:
"Three days after his tonsillectomy surgery, Johnson sat on the ISU bench for the first time in 11 days. His role for the next couple weeks will be as a cheerleader. The senior guard, who said there are plenty of popsicles in his diet for the foreseeable future, hopes to return if the Redbirds make a postseason tournament.

???I??™m just taking it one day at a time and trying to get better slowly,??? said Johnson, his voice surprisingly strong. ???It felt good just to watch my team get out there and play hard. I wish I could still be out there, but there??™s nothing I can do.

???I??™m getting tired real easy. I??™m trying to rest a lot and get a lot of liquids in me and hopefully help the team if we make it to postseason.???

You gotta give Dom Johnson credit....the kid has heart and he wants to play.
But he is so sick that his return to playing may yet be another week or two, or possibly not until ISU's season is over.
He hasn't even been released for practice yet.
Reports are that he is still very weak and has a little way to go, but I really do admire the kid.
Hope you get back soon, Dom........
