ISU scrimmage

I think it was more of the fact that your players were talking about an undefeated season after playing cupcakes -you walk into Carver, against a BU team without it's top returning scorer, while students are on break, and lose....
Rivalry game. Anything can happen. Clearly at that point in the season bu was the toughest team ISU had played especially at home which is very tough for the road team to win. Even the most ardent ISU fans knew walking out of Carver with a win was going to be very, very tough.

As for the undefeated season talk? A reporter asked a 21 year old kid a question and he gave an honest answer. If you think for a minute if bu starts out 10-0 this season and someone asks a prominent member of the team the same question that the answer will be any different you are quite naive. And if the answer was any different I'd be upset as a fan.

Here's an interesting fact, the last four years BU is 6-2 against ILSU... I'm sure that's a bit harder to remember... Or that you guys haven't won a game at Carver since '01-'02 season...

I thought we were just talking about last season. No doubt you have a better recent history against us. No one is arguing that. You claim we have a creampuff schedule, yet we still finished better last year. That's all.

I'd agree with every point except the last. I always want my players looking at just the next game, not looking ahead. Which is often, VERY difficult, but it's what great players do, that being said, expecting that out of a college age individual is sometimes unreasonable.

Here's another fact.......6-2 but trending DOWNWARD since they are 2-2 in their last 4 after winning 4 straight. Numbers can be turned around in any direction you want.

That's like an SIU fan saying they beat ISU 10 straight earlier this decade (which they did) but ignoring the fact they've lost 4 straight including 2 straight at SIU Arena which is a brutal place for the opposition to win. Once again.......you can turn numbers anyway you want.

No, its over the past 4 years period , I'm OK with 2-2.

For he who is predicting a sweep, arguing about trends is probably not your strongest point. What is it for BU 8 years in a row at Carver? I think both teams are formidable, but when ISU lost its leading scorer, and only finished 1 game above BU, predicting a sweep is a little presumptuous, as well is acting as if ISU has been much better than BU lately...

Fair enough

I tend to judge conference standings as a better barometer and measuring stick than head to head play. The schedules are identical at that point. 2 months of hell. The last 2 seasons ISU has been better at this challenge and that really cant be argued. Injuries be ****ed because all teams have them.

ISU wasn't better than BU in '04 either. They finished lower in the league standings and got swept by bu in the reg season. The fact that ISU destroyed bu by 20 in St. Louis did not make them better for the season. They were just better that night.

I'd agree conference standings in generally a better indicator of who the better team is, and last year, I'd say it was you guys. But not by much - as the standings indicate - 1 game.

I'm simply confident in my team. Shouldn't all fans be??

I guess, within reason anyways. I just doubt I'll see anyone around here claim we'll beat isu by "A LOT" on any floor.

Hmmmm. Wasn't that a 3-4 point margin at the final horn?? To my best recollection the game wasn't determined until the final seconds.

My best recollection of the game was not being impressed at all with the mighty 14-0 redbirds.

Yes, but BU would have already won games against BYU, Oklahoma State, either Illinois or Utah, and Iowa State. Considering all of those games are away from home, I would fully expect that team to have expectations of winning every Valley game.

Yeah, BU undedeated non-con is very different than ILSU...

Let's face it Guth. If ISU was to win convincingly in Carver or anywhere for that matter over bu you'd never admit to being impressed anyway so what's the point? I'm not sure you are capable of the slightest bit of objectivity when it comes to your views of anything ISU.

Of course I would, but that didn't happen. Let's face it Cooksey, if isu beats us by "A LOT" this season as you've predicted, how could I not be impressed?

I'm sorry, but I was honestly not impressed with your 14-0 redbirds when I saw them in person.

So if your team struggled at home to narrowly beat a team you "weren't impressed with" what does that say about your view of your own team??

And your mighty redbirds, one of the last undefeated teams in the country at one point, struggled at home to beat a Bradley team that was without their returning leading scorer and a starting center before he got injured. Am I supposed to lie and say I was SOOOOOO impressed with isu? You also played a decent team on the road last year, because you had to, and got beat rather badly if I recall. Again, I apologize for not bowing down to the isu redbirds!

Has this EVER happened Cooksey? We're pretty knowledgeable and objective on this board; I think we'd give them their props. But, based on what your precious little birds have shown us these passed few years we're really not impressed. In fact, we think they kinda suck;) :) (all in fun.... don't be offended :) )

Do you even watch the games? Historically, regardless of how favored one team is over another, the BUvs.ISU games are always played hard.
