ISU's Deontae Hawkins suspended

I am a 32 year old white mail that weighs about 140lbs. I once lost my license for getting caught with a fake ID in college. Am I a thug?

Hardly a comparable example.
In less than 2 years, Deontae Hawkins has accumulated 9 different charges listed in the McLean County Criminal database, including a couple alcohol related offenses.

And that doesn't count a previous offense that shows up in Dayton, Ohio (Montgomery County).

So don't try to make this seem like just a college kid being a college kid.
Hawkins has more violations in just the last 2 years, than most people have in a lifetime.

I actually do apologize, I do not think he is a thug.

I think the word thug was a bad choice, he shows disrespect for authority and it's worsened by authority being easy on him because of his talent..
ISU has had their share that were more of the definition of thug - but still nowhere near the number that Kansas, Cincy, & UK have had

and Vent- I did a search on BradleyFans and on the ISU board and on the other local board for the word "thug"
It's not precise since the search still find each post where the word is NOT used but merely quoted from a prior post...
but here's what I find...

It's used a couple dozen times total...on both BradleyFans and on Redbirdfan - averages out to 4-5X/yr ...just about equal number of times on both boards.
The ISU fans have used it in reference to the Illini, to the Shockers, various other teams and opponents, and a few times in reference to their own players and to Bradley players.
It's used 2-3 times as often on the PJS board for Grayson Allen, Johnny Manziel, a number of other random times including even the use in title threads...plus it's used by a few anti-Jim Les posters to label some of Bradley's own players, such as Daniel Ruffin, as a thug. I find it interesting that they don't use the word in regards to the Geno player who was charged with the exact same offense, although the JL player's charge was never pursued due to completed supervision while the GF players charge & conviction are still on the record.

So there - maybe it's a bad word, but it seems to get used a lot as a reasonably casual label.

No apology needed as far as I'm concerned. We've got a first amendment in this country. People are allowed to say what they actually think and feel.

Not always! Our new President doesn't take too kindly to criticism, and has unleashed an all out war on the press and Freedom of Speech. And for what it's worth I posted over on RBF.com a few times back when college sports were actually interesting, and I could tolerate more of the back and forth banter. It's no funhouse, but neither the old or new admins were big on purging posters for their comments. So, yeah.

nsbf- if the media has freedom to express opinion, then certainly the Prez does, too
but over the years - seems to me that media people tolerate a little criticism worse than anyone

No mvcfan but you might be either a flaming liberal who needs a safe place or a deplorable. lol

Wichita State starter Conner Frankamp also got a DUI Jan. 25, 2015
http://www.kansas.com/news/local/crime/article11219951.html

we kinda see a little lack of any discipline at Wichita as Frankamp is one of their key guys and never got any game suspensions

Conner Frankamp got the DUI shortly after arriving at WSU. He was not eligible to play for nearly a year later. He was slated to walk on for the first semester then receive a scholarship after. He lost the scholarship for that next year because of the DUI. WSU filled that scholarship shortly after. So he did not get suspended from a game (earliest game he could have been punished would have been 10.5 months after), but he did get punished

I know it could happen anywhere and that we have our own problems here but it sure is a broken record repeating itself over in B-N...
...heard yet another ISU Redbird just had a run-in - driving erratically and issued citations & found to be driving without a license.... meanwhile another of the team was in court this morning while the team traveled to Missouri State

oops...
more issues to deal with..how do they find the time?
One of the ISU players (Andrae Washington) according to the database, was arrested for "Possession of Cannabis" on Feb 15. - given a March 21 court date
He has appeared in only one game since then.

3 others with lesser citations in the past 2 weeks also

I hear Deontae has had another run in while trying to finish his degree ....

...Milik Yarbrough's court date for his similar Theft/Stolen property charge is tomorrow.
...

he still hasn't played a game yet at ISU but now is in trouble again...
Don't know but Milik Yarbrough may be at risk of violating the terms of his prior arrests (court supervision from the theft & underage consumption charges plus no-show for his traffic violations)...and if that happens he could risk jail time..
After getting the court supervision, he got ticketed and then skipped out on court dates - so his license was suspended - then he got caught again and now appears in court in October for driving on a suspended license..
But since none of the other ISU players ever got disciplined - even when they had multiple DUIs, I doubt we will hear anything on this one either..

after getting caught driving on a suspended license on Sept. 11, I guess that didn't register to Milik Yarbrough
because he continues to drive and has gotten caught yet another time driving on a suspended license on Sept. 29.
So now he has multiple additional court dates in October...plus all those no-shows for his prior court dates....wonder if Muller will accompany him this time.

Milik Yarbrough and Deontae Hawkins both skipped their recent court dates again - the whole program is going renegade..

ISU's Hoopfest is next week - wonder if Yarbrough will play ...
he now has bond forfeiture dates set as a result of skipping his last several court dates then getting caught again driving on suspended license..
I'm sure Hawkins won't be back for his missed court dates...Muller never held him accountable anyway
