Chico - I can only relate how it usually happened to us and likely to other families with kids....and I am not complaining because I loved taking my kids to the Itoo Spaghetti Supper and still would if it were still being held...
I suspect it would be hard for someone inside the building and watching the team & coaches speak to notice if there were others quietly leaving so possibly some at Itoo never saw those who were leaving...
But, I was there many years with small kids at Itoo and came early, ate, mingled a little, got a few autographs, bought a few tip boards, then left early....
If a family comes as a group of 5 or 6 with kids - they simply could not find a place to sit all together -- so we'd break up into separate groups...but the small kids would quickly lose interest when their food was eaten and want to leave.
So we often left after talking with players & coaches but well before the full "ceremony" and we weren't the only ones, as others were leaving the lot when we were.
There were years that we left by 6-6:30 and there were still people arriving at that time to take our parking spaces.
