There is still a long way to go for the season, and if any team pulls away and wins the conference, it is more likely whoever is their key player will get a lot more recognition for the Player of the Year award. And almost certainly the POY will come from a team among the top 4 or 5 in the final standings. So Lundblade of Belmont, Javon Jackson or Fred King of Murray State, and Trey Campbell of UNI now seem to be the current frontrunners along with Jaquan. Preseason POY Chase Walker is currently just 12th in scoring and 20th in rebounding, but if ISU keeps winning, he could move back into contention.
Here are the sortable stats for the MVC. Jaquan (18.8 ppg) is now the MVC leading scorer by a 1.5 point margin over Jalen Quinn of Drake (17.3 ppg).
