The list of great shooters since 1986 is a long one, but it is unbalanced because it leaves out the great shooters who came before the line was introduced. There is a symmetry in that.

DID he forget the greatest 3 point shooter who lead the league in scoring. Where in the he11 is HH? Are you kidding me JJ Redick #4!!!!

HH shot almost 40% his last year, lead the NCAA in points and the simple equation of who was the best is who would you rather have the ball at the end of the game down by 2. I'm sorry to say JJ would not be the guy. He would not even make my top 10.
 
JJ did shoot over 40% his senior year and almost 40% for 3 years against much better competition. Im not saying he was a better college basketball player than Hersey but the facts are the facts he was a better 3 point shooter. Clutch shooting is not what the list measures but I did watch JJ make some pretty big shots.
 
not to mention that Reddick was also a clutch ft shooter as well! I agree though, I would have thought that Hawk would have made the list.
 
I would rate Jeremy Crouch and Aaron Zobrist ahead of Hersey Hawkins in 3 point shooting. Both could compete with just about anyone on that list as far as shooting the 3 goes.
 
I think you underestimate JJ SFP. In fact, I might put him as high as #1 or #2. Remember, these are the best 3-point shooters, not players or scorers. JJ was probably one of the best pure shooters I've ever seen.

I would have to agree w/ your assesmant of JJ even if a person is not a fan of Duke. JJ is one of the best that I have ever seen and, yes, he could hit the clutch shot-a great colleg player but will never be a great pro player.
I would have to put JC on that list also as I really think that he is better then half of that group and Curry would be much higher also. The main thing that hurt JC was his Soph year. If he had as good a soph season as he did the other 3 years a lot more peole would have heard of him.

Steve Kerr and Hersey Hawkins were in the same graduating class of '88.

Kerr had and advantage of Sean Elliott as a teammate.

I think a complaint about Hawk being ommitted is valid.

For someone who scored as many points as Hawk did and was the unquestioned focal point of every defense he shot a tremendous percentage.

Hawk: 2 years with the 3 pt. line 118 for 329 for 36%
Kerr: 1 year with the line (medical redshirt in 86-87) 114 for 199 for 57%.

Kerr's single season was certainly remarkable under any circumstance and I am sure that is why he was listed. I stand reasonalbly corrected.
 
Hawk was a scorer...not just a 3 point gunner that many of these guys are. Hawk also played defense and handled the ball on occasion.

Had Hawk just sat back and launched threes BU would not have been as good allthough Hawk MIGHT have been on this list. I'll take what he gave us over being considered a deadeye 3 pt shooter anyday.

I am wondering why our Keith "Mr." Jennings didn't make that list. He scored 1988 points in his career.
He shot 223-452 from 3pt range, which is 49.3%, which puts him 2nd all time for career 3pt% Div I
He also had one year he shot 84/142 59.2% which is 3rd best for a single season in Div I
Jennings was also much more then a shooter he was first and foremost a point guard, he had 983 assists (a 2.43 A/to ratio) which ranks him 4th in Div I for career assist and 334 steals.

Because Jennings didnt play in a BCS conference, didnt really get any run in the association, isnt a current head coach or doesnt pull paychecks from ESPN, Bilas isnt going to know or have any reason to include Keith Jennings.

Same with Hawkins, no way no how guys like Tony Bennett, Keith Veney(Nike NBA rep), Lee Humphrey(Florida), Curtis Staples(Virginia), heck pretty much from number 10 on down were or are better 3 point shooters then Hawkins. And that includes the inclusion of Legler... Ill take Hawkins today in a shoot off with that talking head anyday... actually Im shocked Bilas didnt include Doug Gottlieb or Greg Anthony in this list.

The list is without any merit, without the inclusion of Hawkins.

That doesn't say much for Bias as a expert on college basketball then does it.
Like I pointed out Jennings is high in the record books in several areas. Led ETSU to 3 NCAA appearances.He also won the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award and played 3 seasons with the Warriors before he blew his knee out.

I agree about Bilas and the BCS but Hawk only shot threes for two years and only shot very well for one of them. Which player should he be listed over if you only talk about shooting threes?

Lakeview I would take Hawkins over every player that Bilas lists from number 10 through number 25. Even if he played only 2 years with the 3 he was a better 3 point shooter then all of those players listed from 10-25.

If we use years played with the 3 point line as a determining factor then Reggie Miller should not be on this list as he only played with the 3 for one year.

Also, if my memory serves me the 3 pt line was different distances the two years, I think it might have been a bit further out the first season.

He should be on that list, regardless of how many years in college he played with the 3 point line.

Matt Salley - oops.... guess I am wrong. ;) I coulda sworn I saw him drain one once this past season and it was his only attempt. LOL - oh well.

Matt made a few attempts at 3 pointers. I recall when he first joined the team two years ago, he took several shots behind the arc.

Then he learned his role and rarely took a 3 pointer. I don't know. Maybe some outside shooting used to be more part of his game before Bradley.
