JC To Be On Bench, Eastman off Redshirt

Plus the time needed to get into game shape after he can start practice. If we went bigger do we need JE to play? Imagine playing SS a bit more so we can put WE at the 4 for some minutes. Then we could play MS and maybe even TB at the 3, which would give minutes for AW and CR at the 2?????

Will NEVERhappen!

Who is this "MS" people keep bringing up? I saw those initials in a post yesterday and didn't have time to question it.

If the injury to DSE is going to be closer to the 6 weeks of recovery time, I say redshirt him. He would miss close to 14 games in that scenario and likely wouldn't be back near 100% until the Valley Tourney...and I'd rather not waste a year of his eligibility on a season where we'd be getting very little of him at 100%.

No knock on Eastman from what I just said...

DSE gave us a look that we won't have with the other two PG's, mainly less dribbling, more ball movement, and someone who can actually get the ball inside...

So much for Jim's idea on getting Will more touches...
I am glad someone else notices what I have seen the last 2 years, point guards that don"t feed the post players. We have lost 2 of our toughest players in Dyricus and Dodie .

SFP are you suggesting we could redshirt JE next year after him playing this year?
I missed it, what is meant by JC being on the bench? Is he officially coaching or just helping out or what?
That's too bad about DSE, he looked so good for a freshman, but I'm excited to see what JE can do, even though I'm sad about him losing that 5th year. Good luck and speedy recovery to DSE whether he redshirts or not.

Unfortunate, but not the end of the world. This team still has a core of players capable of making a run in the Valley, so this injury shouldn't be looked at as an excuse for a mid-pack finish.

Just really saying that he could RS next year not that he will or that I know anything. We are only losing CR at the guard position and I doubt if JE would fill his place or minutes anyway. I'm sure it will be considered now.

I agree we still have most of our core, but the more role players lost, the tougher it is. One isn't too bad but two is getting worse. DD was a leader, 3-shooter, and best defender. DSE was just a tough freshman who made plays. Our depth is getting thiner, hopefully JE can fill the void of a 3-point shooter.

What we are left with is a starting 5 (SM, AW, CR, TB, WE) that is still good enough to compete for a Valley title...but in order for this to happen, 4 out of those 5 (SM, AW, CR, and TB) are going to have to play 35 minutes a night the rest of the way out...because we now have absolutely zero help available off the bench...
I think we are unfortunately going to see a whole lot of really empty minutes coming from our bench guys the rest of the season...
I hope that starting 5 is taking advantage of the rest they are going to get between games over the next two weeks...because there won't be much time for them to rest once we turn the calendar over to January.

I can't find the NCAA site where it says that, but it does appear the limit was changed a couple years ago to 30% of the team's scheduled games.-

Thus it would appear DSE does qualify for a medical redshirt if they decide to take it.

here is the link....it is clear that he cannot play more than 30% of scheduled games, and that means he cannot play more than 8. He has played 8.

if you choose not to check the link, here's what it says...

--"has not participated in more than ..30 percent of the institutions scheduled or completed contests or dates of competition in his sports"

I am completely against the redshirt unless we totally tank in his absence. Look, let's be realistic..this is more thn likely a winner take all in St. Louis event for our conference, given its performance against the big boys so far. If we're good enough to take down the Illini with DSE, we're good enough to beat UNI. Let him heal and let's amke a February and march run...enough with the next year stuff because you're starting to sound like cubs fans

Imagine. thats about all we will do! It will NEVER HAPPEN:evil: I'm just at a end with trying to figure out why Jimmy does not try going bigger:? Your right friend now would be a great time for change:!:
