I hope this is not true, It would greatly reduce my expactations for next year if he's gone.

Noooooooooooooo. He's just one player. We'll be OK. A team can never acheive greatness if one player dictates the way things are done. We still have MANY good players 8)

So how good would have the 1988 Braves been without Hawkins?

Great point GTD... Hope the Fears rumor is just that and will prove to be false?!?!?!?!?

This is the kind of stuff that happens with immature kids. Never let your happiness with anything rest on the shoulders of people that cannot be depended on. Find hope, happiness and satisfaction elsewhere other than college basketball as it is just entertainment, period. :D

Sorry to state the obvious, but Jeremy Fears is not Hersey Hawkins.

OK, how good would the sweet sixteen team have been without POB? All I am saying is one player can have a great impact on the outcome. How about, how good would BU have been if Crouch would not have gotten injured last year?

I'm confused on how all these rumors and talk about about a player and his constitution can be helpful to the team and the community.

Doesn't this board have policy alongs these lines? Seems to me there is!

Sorry :? I'm not seeing anything wrong here Bob. No one is ripping Fears or anyone else. George is just stating that college kids in general can be immature and unreliable and that we should not pin our hopes on any of them since they can all be fickle at times (am I reading your comments right, George? ).

Remember, this is a message board and much of what is posted here could be construed as rumor. Now, if a player is personally ripped then I agree with you. It is up to the Moderators to delete that post. 8)

I get your point Dog. However, we really don't know how good Fears is. He sounds like a great individual talent but no one really knows what kind of a team player he is.

Remember, both Hersey and POB were relatively unheralded out of high school (unlike many players that have been brought into college programs with a resume of greatness and promise that was never to be fulfilled). Both Hawk and POB turned out to be great team players and "above-average" talents.

Often, in college, players make themselves and step up when the situation arises. I have no doubt that someone will step up and be the team superstar and leader just like Hawk did.

MnBob...the policy as set out in the "Rules for Posting"
http://www.bradleyfans.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=4554

says that posters must avoid discussion that is speculative and personal, when it had not been made public via the team, the University, and or the press.

Here is what's clearly stated....is NOT ALLOWED

"Negative or unconstructive criticism of Bradley, the coaches, the players, or any personnel or staff at Bradley ...

Unsubstantiated rumors about players, coaches, or staff that are negative or defamatory in nature

Players:
Discussion of players should be limited to their performance on court. Discussions of off-court issues involving players will be strictly limited to verifiable reports and discussions in good taste. Exceptions are granted only if the subject has been reported in the media or released by the University athletic department.

Personal Information:
Personal information about coaches, players, player's family, or other representatives of Bradley or any institution are strictly prohibited. Do not post links to other sites where such personal information is available
."

Therefore...I think it is allowable to report that a rumor exists about Jeremy Fears, and that we might have to wait and find out the facts.
BUT-- almost anything beyond that will be subject to scrutiny, since NOTHING on this subject has been released or confirmed by the team.

I think that's clear.........don't you?

MNBOB....Blame me for whats transpired with your Transfer/scholie post the other day. I followed your question with some personal observations that I thought we were discussing the rumors and speculating so much we were headed down the wrong path. Then others followed my lead.

You make a good point...on one hand we were asking to slow down the rumor talk about transfers/scholies now we are doing it with Fears.

I suggest that the main difference is this is new and it hasn't reached the saturation point like the scholie issue did.

Another aspect is that disputes between players and coaches happen quite often. The internet era has allowed the news about these disputes to reach a wider audience. Let's hope that the dispute is not irreconcilable. Hopefully this fence can be mended and we can move on to bigger and better things.

Here here.....things happen for a reason. Good, bad or otherwise BU will survive this.

I wish JF nothing but the best and HOPE he wants to be a Brave.

Tornado would be having a field day if you replaced Bradley with New Mexico on this issue. He'd already have links to the Ohio, Iowa State and UNM message boards.

Ruffin and Fears would make a heckuva defensive backcourt together.

I don't speak for tornado, but I do not see the situation at New Mexico as anywhere near similar to Bradley. Bradley does not have a history of taking on disgruntled players from other schools like New Mexico does. Fears is the only one that I know. Bradley does not have a history of "stealing" other players and illegal contacts with players at other schools. The list of such player that have ended up at New Mexico or dropped out is longer than my arm. If it happens in this case, we'll report it.

Ignore UNM and use any school other than Bradley and Tornado would be all over it.

It's one of the reason I don't say too much when players at other schools are leaving (except ISU). It's happened too much at Bradley and it will probably happen again.
