Jon Rothstein interview with Josh Schertz of St. Louis

Wide ranging interview covers Schertz's time at D-II Lincoln Memorial (national champion at the D-II level), Indiana State, and St. Louis. Talks about several players, especially Robbie Avila. Mentions at about 03:45 that the 2024 InSU, Drake, and Bradley teams could have competed in the A-10. Compares the MVC with the A-10 in general. Says this St. Louis team is the deepest he's ever had.

St. Louis is 23-1, best start in program history (several times, it's mentioned that they could have been 24-0 if not for a fluke against Stanford).

St. Louis has a long history in the MVC, a rival of sorts of Bradley, and there were some good teams, especially in the '40s and '50s, but they were a force in the MVC for several seasons in the '60s and '70s before they left the MVC.

very good coach and a lot of people think he wins because of star players like Avila...
but he also wins because he recruits shooters.... guys who make their 3-point shots!

2023-24 at InSU- he had 3 guys shooting 40% or better from 3-pt and a couple more just under that

This year at SLU he has FOUR GUYS shooting over 43% from 3-pt - two of them over 46%
