Kevin Eastman

Da Coach

Kevin Eastman, father of BU player Jake Eastman, is in his 6th year as an assistant for the Boston Celtics, as they prepare to play the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2010 NBA Finals.
Here is an article that tells a little about how Kevin got the job with Celtics coach Doc Rivers-

He does motivational speaking. Among the recent topics: "The DNA of Championship Leadership." He produces training videos for basketball players and coaches. He speaks at numerous camps across the country. This summer, Eastman will make a trip to Peoria, Ill., where his son, Jake (Douglas Freeman High), is a rising sophomore guard at Bradley University.

Perhaps Eastman, 55, will draw the attention of a Division I athletic director who soon may be in the market for a new hoops coach.
"If it were the right job at the right time, I would consider it.

Interesting. Wouldn't mind Kevin joining Tom Thibodeau in Chicago. At the very least it would give him a chance to perhaps catch a couple more of Jake's games.

How does Eastman rank in the assistant coaching hierarchy with Boston?

How much more qualified was Thiladelboelo than him?

Just wondering.

Thibs is an 18 year assistant who was seeking a head coaching job. I'm not sure Eastman has been seeking to be a head coach in the NBA, but I don't know that for a fact. What I do know though is the life of an NBA assistant is a pretty darn good one!

Celtics head coach Doc Rivers has a few nice things to say about Kevin Eastman...
"Rivers welcomes input from each of his three assistant coaches, Tom
Thibodeau, Armond Hill and Kevin Eastman. Rivers talks to Eastman the most.
???He??™s the most even keeled,??? Rivers said. ???Tibs and Armond are emotional like
me and Kevin is the calm guy.???
Jackson credited Rivers for the coaching job he??™s done in the Finals.
???He??™s done well in attacking some of our weaker guys out there on the floor in
situations that??™s given them an advantage,??? Jackson said. ???I thought he??™s
used his bench exceptionally well.???

Eastman might be in line to become a head coach if Doc Rivers steps down...

Good story. I've always felt Doc Rivers is the most under-rated and under-appreciated head coach in the NBA. He really knows how to pull the strings and motivate his NBA players.
