Kyle Cain ?...

Big Mike

Active member
6'6 1/2 forward just de-committed fro Detriot Mercy and has the Braves on his list? Have not heard of him before today? I see his high school coach is former Brave, Tim Bankston! :D

Chicago hoops has him listed as the 36 player in Illinois (JP is # 19)(DSE is #24)...

I know absolutely nothing about the kid but I like the athletic 6-6, 6-7 type guy. After Theron leaves Bradley will only have Taylor Brown that fits that mold. I think a kid like this would fit the need.

Sean Harris in the 2010-2011 fits that mold and according to Coach Korn he has a motor that just never stops.

I am not in the loop when it comes to recruiting, but I would be surprised if Bradley would look at this kid with the quality of big men they have for the next 2 years.

This kid, Kyle Cain is back in the news again.......originally from TF North - playing for ex-Brave Tim Bankston...he committed to Detroit...then backed out because he thought he could do better.......
then he went to prep school (New Hampton), and reopened his recruitment - getting nothing but mid-major offers and signing last fall with Rhode Island...

NOW -- after verballing and signing with Rhode Island... and then as recently as a couple weeks ago confirming his commitment...
he is again decommitting and asking for his release from his LOI...

He says he...
"wants to go higher level"

If this kid is good enough for UofI to look at, he's probably worth a good look by BU? He sounds like a banger and I still haven't heard about a LOI from England.

Kyle Cain now says he has reduced his list to just four schools...
Alabama, Arizona State, Illinois and West Virginia...
but in this article he seems to be saying he has a few expectations and wants some kind of assurance that he'll play right away...

He is also smart enough to know if he goes to Kentucky, he'll sit the bench behind a new batch of McDonald's All Americans every year...

"I just know I'm not the type of player that Kentucky goes after.
"I'm an emerging player. I can be a star in college in two or three years.
Kentucky goes after McDonald's All-Americans every year. ...I'm not their
type."

His comments seem to say he wants or expects at least 20 minutes per game his freshman year!!!

BTW -- I checked the stats for the Illini, and they return almost everyone and potentially close to 90% of their minutes from this season..
with Dominique Keller's 11 mpg (and only 9 mpg in Big Ten play) being about the only appreciable loss.
but recall they also have three highly touted incoming freshmen with Meyers Leonard, Jereme Richmond, & Crandall Head, and Joe Bertrand also coming back off a redshirt year...all, of course, expecting to get some decent minutes, and none looking like redshirt candidates...
Thus, there's really going to be a HUGE logjam at the 2, 3, and 4 spots.....on the floor, so I wonder how in the world Cain could possibly figure he's gonna get 20 minutes per game..which is more than their only real PG, Brandon Paul got...

you would argue that demetri isn't a PG?

naw..of course he is...but I meant the only backup in case of an injury..
but the point stands.....if Cain thinks he can get 20 mpg whose minutes are he going to take?

Kyle Cain just committed to Arizona State over several other offers......
he is yet another kid with midwest or connections that's gonna be at Arizona State, Brandon Dunson and Hersey's son, Corey Hawkins will also be there..as will the kid who got released from his LOI to Duke, Carrick Felix..and
an ex-Big Ten kid, Chanse Creekmur from Iowa....

Kyle Cain had already become one of the most well-travelled kids in college basketball....

after numerous verbal destinations and stops - he finally left Arizona State and landed at UNC-Greensboro...and had a pretty decent year last year...
15ppg, 9 rpg...and was expected to be a force in the So-Con this coming season but....

he's got the itch to travel again and is leaving UNC-Greensboro and will leave to play professional ball...........
He could have placed his name in the NBA Draft, except the deadline to do so has already passed....so it's pretty puzzling why he's choosing to do this now....
except a fair number of people think he'd have gone undrafted, but he still thinks he'll catch on somewhere professionally and at least get paid more than he gets at Greensboro.
