Chris Lowery battled hard for Kyle Kuric, and was reportedly in the final two when Kuric decided.
Kyle Kuric committed to Louisville today.
Louisville also picked up a committment from 4-STAR Terrence Jennings yesterday.



Kuric Commits to Louisville
 
Here's an update on Kyle Kuric............he still has NOT signed anywhere

He verbally committed to Louisville last October, in plenty of time to sign a LOI in November, but he didn't sign.
that's not totally unexpected, as he was possibly going to walk on at Louisville but still leave open the possibility of
changing his mind. However, all season he has reaffirmed his committment to Louisville, but now in the spring signing
period, he still has yet to sign. One other Louisville commit, Mequan Bolding also has yet to sign, so there is some speculation as to what is going on.
Perhaps there is worry that with kids leaving for the NBA, Pitino might just use those suddenly open scholarships to
recruit over kids like Bolding and Kuric. Anyway, we are now 2 1/2 weeks into this late signing period
and Kuric has yet to sign. The only other schools who were recruiting him hard were SIU, Saint Louis, Michigan, and BU.
Could he yet end up at one of those schools? Could Kuric be the guy that Chris Lowery is jettisoning all his players to free up a scholarship for?

Here was his comment last November during the fall signing period when he hadn't signed:
"Yes, I'm looking forward to (signing) (with Louisville), but I'm still not sure if I'm signing this week or if I'm going to put off
signing until spring," the three-star prospect said. "I'm trying to work out the scholarship situation."
and

"Kyle Kuric went in to his official visit to Louisille this past weekend thinking things would likely remain status quo with the Cardinals...
He got more than he bargained for Friday afternoon when he sat down with head coach Rick Pitino.
Kuric's offer was upgraded by the Cardinals.
"Everything went really well," Kuric said ...
"I talked to (Pitino) on Friday and he changed their offer from a walk-on one to an offer for next year," Kuric revealed.
"I was like, well, thank you. It was something I really didn't expect," the three-star prospect added."

Then just recently in another interview Kuric said:
"Kuric said he’s ‘definitely’ planning to attend Louisville next season. “I haven’t heard much about it,” Kuric said of a possible scholarship for next year. “It depends on who leaves..."

and then....from a story on the Louisville signees....it reported that Rick Pitino would go hard after Tyreke Evans but if Evans decided on Memphis instead, the scholarship would be open(possibly for Kuric).
Well, Evans did choose Memphis, so now the scholly should go to Kuric, right...?

Nope....UL/Pitino is still dragging on offering it.....
"The Cards also figure to add Kyle Kuric to the roster next season.....possibly as a non-scholarship player for a year before earning a scholarship."
While Pitino doesn’t appear quite finished recruiting....."

So Kuric really must be feeling like a backup option, a safety valve?

...sounds like he really wants to go to Louisville but is kind of getting jacked around and is not being offered the scholarship that was promised.
This might just be an example of a talented kid who waits too long to decide or sign, who spurns several good offers assuming a better one will come (the Louisville offer), and then he gets left with maybe no offers or considerably lesser offers (in his judgement) and has to go the prep route to start over?
 
I always thought he sounded a lot like Matt Roth maybe even better. I thought he would have been a great fit in our style. I think we may have too many guards coming in for us to be a possibility though. I guess if he fell into our laps I would still be happy. However if we do bring someone in this year I wish they were a rebounder. If we get another guard we are really going to have to look hard at the front line in next years recruiting.
 
I found another article from the Evansville Courier Press, April 21,

"Kuric has yet to sign a binding letter of intent and continues to receive recruiting phone calls
and new scholarship offers almost daily. But he said last month he anticipated signing with
Louisville once a scholarship opened up this spring..."
 
Louisville is a hell of a program, but with the insane amount of talent on that roster next year, it seems like this kid surely would have better options. But if hes from evansville its definately possible he has other ties to the louisville area, or program history. My guess is the scholarship is going to stay open at least till the Caracter situation is completely closed. If Derrick grovels just the right amount, and makes the right choices he may find himself back on the team, which would be a real blow to this Kid.

On the other hand, I wouldn't be all that hurt if caracter is finished at louisville, and we bring in a level-headed shooter to grow and develop. In the end thou, BU could use him more, and he'd certainly pull in a great deal more playing time.
 
I didn't know where to put this post, so I will stick it here....since Kyle Kuric was one of our recent recruits from Indiana.

Last night was the Kentucky-Indiana High School All Star basketball game, and the top kids from KY lost by one to the top kids from IN.
Indiana usually wins big since it's talent in the Indianapolis and Chicago-suburban area has been so strong, so the Kentucky people are happy with their good outing last night.

Anyway....the top scorers for Indiana were largely unheralded players except for Zeller.
Tyler Zeller 22 pts 7 rebs
Larry Stone 12 pts, 6 assists
Gordon Hayward 11 pts, 8 rebs
Alex Young 10 pts
Chase Stigall 9 pts.

The two guys Bradley was recruiting, who were said to be prolific scorers and 3-pt shooters, were virtually invisible.
Kyle Kuric had zero points on 0-1 shooting, and
Zack Novak was 0-3 and scored only one pt on 1-2 at the FT line
All the shots these guys took were 3-pointers, and they combined to miss them all.
Some Louisville fans think Kyle Kuric is the 2nd coming of JJ Redick, note some of these comments I saw on their board....
Maybe someone from our board can go over there and straighten them out, and tell them they are dooming Kuric to failure by making such predictions. ;)
"This kid is going to be a star at UL! I see him as a JJ Redick type of shooter and Rex Chapman typer of dunker for UL"
"If Kuric signs I expect no less from him than Jordan in the mid 90s. I expect his shooting to be no worse than Reggie Miller's"
"I have seen him play quite a few times and he can flat out shoot. He will surprise most with his leaping ability"


For Kentucky, Shelvin Mack had 24, Darius Miller 11, Scotty Hopson 14.
 
It's hard to get a read on postings on other boards. I think maybe those comments could be a running joke about how people over-rate recruits. If not maybe it's a grade school kid that has no idea what the players he is talking about were like. I think Kuric sounds like a prospect. I would not compare him to any of those players though.
 
I agree, I think he is a good prospect, but I think he is aiming way too high by holding out and taking an offer from Louisville.
He could have been a very good player at a mid-major, and still has a chance even in the Big East, but wake me up when he gets more than 12 mpg.
 
The second of the Indiana-Kentucky All Star games was last night and the Kentucky squad broke an 8-year drought by whalloping the Indiana squad 95-78, one of the largest margins in recent years.
The halftime score was 51-38!
Ex-BU recruits Zack Novak (10 pts, 2-7 on 3-pt) and Kyle Kuric (2 pts) and their teammates had 22 turnovers and just couldn't stop the hot shooting Kentucky All Stars.
For Kentucky Darius Miller had 13, Shelvin Mack 16, and Tyler Brown had 19 (5-6 from 3-pt).
For Indiana, UNC recruit Tyler Zeller had 16. IUPUI recruit Larry Stone had 24 for the Indiana team.

A follow-up (wake up call :D) on Mr.Kuric

His soph year at Louisville he averaged 14 minutes per game.

His jr year at Louisville he averaged 28 minutes per game.

This year is his SR year. He is off to a very good start for the #6 ranked Louisville Cards. He is the leading scorer for them and leads them in minutes played with 36 minutes per game. (next closest is 29 minutes per game)
