Last Valley draftee?

I may be drawing a complete blank here, but was Kyle Korver the last Valley player taken on draft night?

When was the last player taken in the first round?

Thanks...

I think the last first rounder taken was Bradley's own Anthony Parker back in 1997.

And I think the last MVC player was taken was Korver in the 2nd round back in 2003.

Here is a very informative release about the draft by Bradley--

Wow- MVC has only 8 players taken in the draft since 1987,
and only one since 1999.
But the draft was numerous rounds in 1988, so if you don't count 3rd round plus, then the MVC has had only 8 kids drafted in the first two rounds since 1985.
The Valley needs to get better players, and maybe POB, Cellus, etc. are the beginning.

That said...things have changed with high schoolers and foreigners. I think there would have been many players taken if not for these two factors...

Tarise Bryson and Darren Brooks come to mind. I'm sure there are others.

Also, who are non-drafted Valley players who at least got a shot in the NBA recently? Wasn't Ashraf Amaya one?

Troy Hudson is still on the T'wolves. He's an SIU guy.

I know it will cause debate, but since Danny Granger was recruited out of high school by a Valley team, and played in the Valley, and was
even the recipient of some Valley awards, then why can't we consider Granger as a Valley player who was recently drafted in the first round?
Even had he gone pro in his soph year, he might have gotten drafted. I think he should be on the list.

Oh, ok. I can go with this.

Already I have been given the subtle jab by my B10/Illini friends that Cellus didn't get drafted... the old shrug of the shoulders with "well, too bad Cellus didn't get drafted" coming off the mention of Brown and Augie getting drafted in Round 2.

I have come back with the "many good players didn't get drafted - like Pittsnogle, etc"....

But this is even better....

I can say "ACTUALLY, Cellus was recruited out of HS by a B10 team". So I guess that means a B10 player didn't get drafted.

Thing is, though... Illini fans HATE Iowa as bad as Bradley.

I will work on that one, though... good idea.

Speaking of Korver, I was reading a blurb from Philly that said the Sixers will be honing Rodney Carney to play the 2-guard, and it will cut into Kyle Korver's playing time.
I just don't see that as Korver is a great shooter and Carney just isn't that type of player and is better suited as a SF.

Anyone know what Nate is going to do?

Can anyone find how the Valley's Paul Miller and David Moss did, and whether they're headed to Europe?
The CBA draft is 9/26/06 and I suspect those guys won't want to just wait around 'til then.

There's some speculation in an article this morning that Troy Hudson may be part of a trade.
"The rumor is the Timberwolves are talking trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers for 6-foot-3 point guard Damon Jones and 6-7 small forward Luke Jackson in exchange for 6-1 point guard Troy Hudson, but the Wolves say that's news to them."
http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/sports/15087138.htm

In addition to that note about a possible Troy Hudson trade, there is a bit buried in that column about Patrick.

"Former Blaine basketball star Patrick O'Bryant, who recently signed a $3.5 million, two-year deal with Golden State, was home in Blaine this week visiting former high school buddies."

Paul Miller played in one of the summer leagues for the Knicks and was doing pretty well, but he just isn't quick enough for the NBA. Here are some stats from some games taken from a thread on Valleytalk:

2 Points on 1-2 shooting.

14 points on 6 of 10 shooting, 3 rebounds including 3 pointer.

13 points on 6-8 from the field, 1-2 from the line, 3 boards, and only committed 1 TO and 0 PFs.

6 points on 3-10 from the field, 2 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block.
