is one of the 3 finalist for the head coaching job @ SIUE! :-o Lee Hall just reported it on the 10 pm news! :-o Good luck to LF....it will be a good job if they end up going D1 like they planned!

Here is the report. It is an AP story--
http://www.macon.com/mld/macon/sports/colleges/mercer/17022709.htm

"Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville has named three head basketball coach finalists.

Rodney Watson, assistant coach at SIU in Carbondale; Jeff Dunlap, assistant coach at Western Michigan University; and Lennox Forrester, assistant coach at Bradley University, were identified as finalists in a news release Tuesday."

That's great news, hopefully he can be the one to lead them into D-1. Although I won't be too disappointed if he stays here.

Well........if LF does indeed leave....let's hope that CB hangs around for another year....2 assts leaving in 1 year would be too-much IMO to overcome with all the new player's coming in!

WOW.....the article says it will take 5 years for the turn around to D1? :-o :? Does that seem like a long time to anyone else? :?

Here are more links. These are from the SIUE website--

Looks like Lennox gets an interview on Friday at SIUE.
Good luck LF! It could be tough since Rodney Watson is well known in Southern Illinois and in the St. Louis area because of his experience recruiting for SIU. Also, he has 18 years of experience as an assistant there under Rich Herrin, Bruce Weber, Matt Painter, and Chris Lowery.

I would have to think Watson is the favorite there.

I was a student at SIUE in the early 90's and worked in the Sports Information Department when they fired Larry Graham and eventually hired Jack Margenthaler.

At that time the entire process was complete secret and the only thing anyone knew is they were searching for a coach. Now the school has a website and an announcement about the 3 finalists.

I remember finding Margenthalers resume and references on the SID's desk and amazed at the letters of recommendation and the names attached to those names. There were some serious big name coaches who gave Margenthaler their recommendations.

Good luck to LF but I would imagine the guy with the ties to the area from SIUC has to be the leading candidate.

Does anyone know how mcuh recruiting LF does for our program?? I was wondering if he did any major recruiting or what some of his primary jobs were during the season

It seemed like he spent a lot of time with Will Egolf this year. For some reason, that got talked about quite a bit.

Is he the coach that teaches our post players? If so he's done some very good work I think.

That's correct, he is the one who coaches the bigs.
