Lost in the fog...

Hey - at least we're not ISU!!!
Oh, wait...I guess we'd have 2 Valley wins already, which may be more than we'll have at the end of next month. ;-)

Well I think this much is clear. There are so many things going wrong, breaking down, etc that everyone is almost stunned.

I think the world of Coach Les as a person. I was thrilled that he brought BU to the S16. But, I also realize that sometimes things just don't work for some reason.

I do not believe we need to change in-season. After the season, I do believe the A.D. or Prez. or whoever needs to do some very serious reviewing of the program as a whole.

I agree with this, but if they decide to bring JL back for another year we'll be having this conversation for another year because some people won't agree with that decision. There are people that believe there should be a change made during the season. I'm sure it was someone here that said he should be fired after just 5 games this season. Someone else thought he should have been fired after last night's game, win or lose, because of a bad technical given by an official.

If this program was having measurable success, there would be no uproar.

Mediocrity was not acceptable to me, but to many it was ok because of other things people liked about Coach Les.

But when you are mediocre, then you fall flat..its a hard landing

I think everyone would agree.
I don't see how anyone could think SM and TB wouldn't make a h-ll of a difference. Thats just plain silly to think they wouldn't but, being realistic they would only get us to 4th or 5th. We would not be better then MSU,WSU,& Creighton. We would be battling NIU & ISU blue for 4th but we could also end up 6TH. We have alot of work to do for next year and whose going to be running the show could be very interesting.

wily...I could see 4th or 5th happening...but with those two healthy I could also see 1st or 2nd...a team can get on a roll and have a great season...we will just never really know...could have gone either way...

I agree with you that would be a possibility but probably wouldn't happen. We miss SM and TB alot but that doesn't alter the fact we have no serviceable bigs like most of the top six have. IMO thats where we fall way short of the rest of the league and until we bring in some big bodies to take care of the paint and boards we are a 4th or 5th place team. The sweet 16 team proves anything can happen if you get on a roll like they did,so it is possible just not likely.

I kind of wonder what it would be like to have:

1- SM
2 - AW
3 - TB
4 - WE
5 - JP

How about next year except...who would be the 2.....

Well, didn't we pretty much already see that group of players last year?

1- SM
2- AW
3- CR
4- TB
5- WE

...and that team went 16-15. I like Prosser a lot...but was replacing Roberts with Prosser really going to make us a dramatically better team?

To answer that quickly...NO

My biggest peave right now is all the wasteful and rdiculous dribbling from side to side 30 ft from the basket and the fact that we have guards that seem to need screens set for them 35 ft from the basket just to clear space so they can dribble more!

I'm beyond sick of the non offensive offense or whatever it is we are supposedly running out there...

Never been an advocate of an in-season change. Nothing is gained IMO.

Coaching last night? I don't know. I don't think the tech did, but we made some really bad decisions and couldn't get a stop in the last minute or in overtime. JL didn't miss the shots or the FT's or didn't play bad defense, but he recruited all of the guys who did. As I said in another thread, I don't think the overall frustration is with one game, one tech, or even one bad season. More, it's the body of work and way the program appears to be trending. At some point the steward of the program has to be held accountable for the results on the floor. If saying that makes me a hater with an agenda, so be it. I think you know I am not.

I couldn't have said this better myself. I thought the coaching in that game was pretty good, especially in the overtime. But it comes down to recruiting, the trends and the lack of confidence in the players. It's not all attributed to coaching, but everyone has to take the blame from the AD to the coaches on downward for not being able to find ways to win at least a few conference games by now.

I don't know which way the adminstration will go after the season is over, but their obviously needs to be a lot of soul searching once the season is over. But I will support whatever decision they make.

Lemon has the skills, with proper "reigning in" of his questionable decision making, he's the one guy coming back that has a chance to expand his offensive game.

Don't have a clue about Abell, but he at least fits the prototype of a 2.
