In the MLB Draft..Day 1 - first couple rounds

#1 overall was SS Dansby Swanson of Vanderbilt

U of I's Tyler Jay was picked #6 overall (Twins)
Jon Harris, RHP, from Missouri State was picked #29 by Bluejays
Indiana State's Jeff Degano (LHP) was picked #57 by Yankees

the draft continues today - a few Bradley players are expected to be chosen -
 
surprising that the MVC's Player of the Year, senior Kevin Kaczmarski, who led the nation in hitting at .478 - is not rated higher....
he is expected to be drafted but has not been drafted yet...
..and it's not his defense - as he did not make an error all season in the outfield

The draft resumes today at noon and goes thru Round 10 today...

Elliott Ashbeck has signed his contract with the San Diego Padres and will be with the Arizona Padres ...Arizona League Class A/Rookie affiliate of the Padres.
..they play in PEORIA, Arizona.

Metamora's Ethan Skender did not sign with Cincy and is aiming at going again in the 2016 draft...
but meanwhile he is one of the best freshman hitters in the nation at State College of Florida (junior college)

He's hitting .395, 22-56 with 5 doubles, 3 HR, 18 runs scored and 19 RBI in 14 games! He has struck out just 3 times and has a slugging pct of .750, an OBP of .446
