Malevy Leons signs new NBA deal

Malevy, after a couple of good NBA appearances, was back with the G-League Santa Cruz Warriors Sunday-
He had 20 points on 8-12, six rebounds, 3 asst and two steals in a 121-100 win over San Diego

but then, he was back up with Golden State for last night's NBA game but only got 6 minutes....
Santa Cruz plays again Wednesday night and the Warriors play again Thursday - so he may be shifting back and forth...
to get playing time at the G-League level but be available for the short handed NBA squad if needed.

We talked to Mal tonight for our Arch preview episode! I'll post the link when the edit is finished, but he gave great answers to some questions about his time in the pros so far and what he likes from this year's Bradley squad. Funny story about him and the walk-ons too!

...
Santa Cruz plays again Wednesday night and the Warriors play again Thursday -
Good news, Malevy did not play with Santa Cruz Wednesday night so that would mean he is still travelling
with the Golden State Warriors and will likely play Thursday with them in Houston
The Warriors are 31-30, 21 games remaining- and comforably within the payoff picture- currently in the #seed spot,
except they'd be playing in the seed 7-10 play-in round.

This Warriors blogger speculates that their injuries will likely force the team to keep Malevy for the rest of the season- LINK

Malevy got 12 min in a couple shifts last night for the Warriors...
He didn't take any shots but played decent defense, grabbed a rebound and had 2 steals
in a big 115-113 win over the Rockets.

Malevy's defense actually got some props - LINK -- LINK -- LINK

Warriors are on NBC
Malevy started for Golden State!
He's on the floor now in the 1st qtr
Just got a block and a highlight rebound and putback dunk
Warriors have seven key rotation players out with injury, Malevy & others getting a great chance.. and they lead by 19!

Landry Shamet from the MVC is also playing (Knicks)

In his first NBA start, Malevy didn’t score much - just 2 points but
He played good defense and in 20 minutes got 5 rebounds, 2asst and 2 blocks

Malevy is in action again tonight.... Warriors vs Wizards....
The Curry-less/Draymond-less Warriors are up 113-105 with 6 min to go
Malevy in just 16 minutes off the bench has 8 pts on 4-5, 2 reb & 1 steal
Porzingis is back from injury and has 20pts - Streaming HERE

Update, Steve Kerr gets his 600th win, 125-117
Warriors 2 games under .500 but still comfortably in the playoff picture

Warriors are still missing virtually all their starters and are struggling - especially on the road...
... so Malevy is getting some opportunities to produce when called on and he is....

Last night, in a loss at Atlanta, Malevy played just 9 minutes, but had 2 pts, 1 reb, 2 steals anda blocked shot

Another good game for Malevy- unfortunately, a loss to LeBron & the Lakers
The Warriors are still playing without their top four scorers, although De’Anthony Melton did get 15 min last nite

Malevy played 24 min off the bench, 4-8, 12 pts, 4 rebounds, 3 asst, 2 steals

I cheered out loud when Malevy stripped Bronnie James at half court and dunked it!🎯🎯🎯🎯👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Video of Malevy Leons stealing the ball from Bronny James and taking it for a dunk.
Malevy finished with an NBA career-high 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals in a season-high 24 minutes of playing time. He has been playing with a right wrist injury because the Warriors have so many players out.

Malevy played 29 minutes last Wednesday and 21 minutes a couple days ago vs Sacramento--
so he's averaging 25 minutes per game in April...

The Warriors are locked in to the #12 playoff spot (they will be in the play-in round), but I doubt Malevy will get much playing time
once the playoff start, as the Warriors are fully expecting to get all their premier guys back soon.
Steph Curry & Portzingis are both expected to play tonight, and Richard, Bassey & Santos are all "day-to-day"

UPDATE
Three guys who are just now back from injury will take starting spots for the Warriors,
Steph Curry, Gui Santos & Kristaps Porzingis - and Malevy will not tsart...
Watch live- Warriors vs Sacramento
