Maniscalco out for the season

With what I have heard....I figured this was coming. Tough break for what is to be an already tough season. Good Luck to Sammy on reasting and getting healed up.....now we will see what the Braves are made of.

Hope Sammy heals up. He deserves a "proper" senior year he has certainly earned that.....but geez this is gonna be a long year-we have lost the two guys we absolutely could not lose.

Not to be defeatist but I shouldn't even watch the Duke game-but I will. With extra playing time hopefully some of our younger guys will develop.

Dang...the hits just keep on coming! Hope things go well for Sammy and he gets healthy.

Now, hopefully, we will see what some of these other guys are made of.

Wow! Consider this, per the article JL is advising his 2nd best player to medical redshirt after losing his best player to a season ending medical condition. That coming from a coach who is considered to be squarely on the hotseat. Basically bring me a MVC championship or go.

I think that says alot about JL the MAN. Like most everyone else on here I have my WTF is his thinking moments where JL's coaching is concerned (substitution patterns and absolute refusal to play two players over 6'9 at the same time), but as a human being, you can't deny he is a class act.

I never doubted JL was a class act. But, in this case, this is an automatic extra year for JL.

I do wonder about our strength and conditioning coach though.

I don't think anything is automatic. Mo was told he was safe and could go ahead and play all freshmen in '01-'02. I know it's a different regime making the decisions, but I don't think anything is automatic.

But how much term remained on MO's contract after the 01-02 season? I don't know that answer but the remaining term has to come into play.

Makes sense. This team was headed nowhere fast this year anyway. Hopefully next year Sam and TB can both come back healthy and team up with a more developed Prosser, DSE, and Lemon and we might have a decent squad.

Just bc he's a class act as a person does not make him a good coach...another year should not be warranted unless he outperforms expectations...what those are now remains to be seen...

That said, i do agree with your second point

I do wonder about our strength and conditioning coach though.

Have wondered that for a while. Has anyone sustained more injuries than us the last decade? I believe DR had a stat that only Indiana St had lost more starter-games to injury than us. Sure there are things you can control, and things you can't control, but how many of these things could we have controlled? I think it's a fair question.

I don't know the answer to that. I know he was still going to Sisson to collect paychecks for a while after he had been dismissed. Agreed that finances certainly come in to play.
