Maniscalco out for the season

Any idea what will done about the scholarship situation if Sam, TB3, and everyone planning on playing shows up next year on the Hilltop?

In fairness, some BU fans invite the hate.

There's a difference between "hate" and ignorance. If they think it's appropriate to appluad the fact that we've now lost two of our best players, that's fine. It wouldn't say much about them personally, but hateful statements are different than ignorant statements.

There may be only a couple people that have any idea and I doubt they would post their thoughts on a message board.

As with Taylor Brown - this is a ****ed shame and I do wish Sam a speedy and complete recovery.
That sucks about Sam. The kid makes the entire Valley better.
Huge loss for Bradley this year. I applaud him for giving it a try. Trust me same thing happens to Tony Lewis or Alex Rubin and we'd be all over the waiver.
We may make comments that you don't like, but no one has said they "applaud" the fact that you've lost your two best players.

As far as my post about "who gets janked?"... I'm pretty sure I learned that phrase from reading this fine message board.

Best of luck to Sam and TB3 on a speedy recovery.

I obviously can not deny that, however, that attitude also comes across as ignorant because it does not take into account as Cubbie Bear said, the possibility of people simply making fun to get a reaction.

Our fan base has a fairly notorious blogger who spouts off stuff irresponsibly and does many of the same things. Which invites snide commentary on rival boards. And you find it occasionally in threads on this forum.

People take this stuff way too seriously.

If you don't want that to happen or you want it to stop, you must represent BU in an upright fashion at all times.

I'm sure nobody has ever picked up just a post or two from this board in the past. Besides, I don't recall saying those were all of the comments. In fact, I said "just a few of the comments".

I also don't recall stating that anyone "applauded" the fact that we've lost two players.

Again.....I don't recall bringing anything up about someone getting "janked".

:?

And I made a joke on rbf about who would get janked if you have 1 more kid than you do scholarships.

Yes.....I said "IF they think it's ok to applaud" that fact, then I'd be ok with that. It was in reference to the difference between "hate" and "ignorance". I did not say isu fans WERE applauding that fact.

Simple miscommunication.

Here's another question: If Sammy returns, what will that mean for DS? A year working with SM could do wonders for a young player, but did DS plan on coming in playing a ton as a true freshman. Seems like a good problem to have if Les can keep everyone happy.

DS will still be a key player next season and will play a lot. Sam's minutes will be less next year because of his injuries, and because of DS. I don't see a problem.

This would be the 1st problem in a year I would welcome for the Braves :-o:....we haven't been getting too-many good problems as of late!

I think that is what is hurting the team right now...no true PG to take Sammy's spot.....you really need 2 for injuries, rest and foul trouble.....DS and SM would solve a lot of problems and get everyone back to there playing to thier true position!

Thanks for those quotes....like any board you get haterzzzz and those that look beyond the rivalry and have some good things to say.

I'm sure if a couple ISU guys went down you'd get the same variety of responses from us or almsot any other board.

The thing I find most disheartening about this situation is that these 2 players were the ones who seemed to be pouring their hearts into THIS season. I don't know either of them personally; I've met Sammy once, but I do have a friend on the team who told me of the commitment and effort these 2 have been putting forth over the off-season.

As much as we (ISU fans) like to see BU struggle, we never like to see it happen like this.

Just a few of the comments from the isu board regarding SM....
:x
What a bunch of ignorant/stupid comments from a bunch of hillbillies from over in hillbilly heaven:roll: These comments are right in line with how some of their fans act at the games:!: They could only dream of having a person and player the caliber of Sammy and that might be giving them to much credit:!: Geeeee' Come On Man

I would have the same point of view that I have now even if it were the other way around.

That does not change my opinion of making ignorant statements.

I am going to make a conspiracy therory statement here, but I don't believe that SM is hurt enough to sit out the whole year. I think he needs to help get Les off the hook and what better way than to have the top two players out for the season.

Actually I don't think it's a bad strategy either...saves face and helps to keep our recruits believing in what we're selling them at Bradley.

Your conspiracy theory is a moot point. JL has a few years left on his contract. Even if this season were to go down in flames, it wouldn't affect him all that much. He's been "consistent" for awhile now record-wise, but I'm sure administration will consider this an anomaly, of course you can never predict these things so you hope against hope that we can do better than bottom 3 of the MVC that some on here have predicted.

I agree...if it happened to them and a few over here were making those ignorant statements I'd feel embarassed as a BU fan.
