Matt Roth Rumor

Depends on the big man. I think we could go one guard one big man in this class. Roth would be a good bridge as he'd sit out next year, then would give us two years when we lose Warren, Maniscalco, and Dunson at the guard position. If push came to shove and we only had one scholarship to give, I'd take the big man as they are harder to come by.

I would absolutely love to have Matt Roth... he scored 28 pts as a freshman in the big ten...

Serious question- When was the last time somebody scored 28 pts in a game for BU? JC maybe?

Would you take him if it meant we would use a scholarship intended for a big man:doubt:

You NO my answer.

If JW get's one scholarship then I still want the other for a true 5. JL and the team will not and should not be going into next year thinking about the following year. IMO we are one decent big from being special next year and MR is in no position to help us. If fo some reason we can't give a open scholarship to a true big then I'd entertain it.

where are the guys who always go ballistic when the subject of Matt Roth comes up....or has this thread actually exposed that it wasn't the topic the bashers were irked about??

Probably because this topic actually pertains to BU, and not just a post about how he isn't playing or shooting well ;-) But just a guess...;-)

I completely agree with this post. We NEED a true 5 and we will NEED a 3-point shooter once AW, SM, and DD leave.

I didnt mean to say Matt Roth wouldnt help Bradley. However I have seen a lot of transfers come through ISU from Big Ten schools who never lived up to the hype. There is a reason most the time why they are leaving. The gap between MVC and Big Ten is smaller than ever. Look at Freeman for SIU good player but not the dominant force everyone thought he would be. All that being said good for Matt Roth if he feels he is better at another school.

What's the rule about a player contacting another coach about a transfer? I mean what if he decidest to transfer because he wants to play at BU and then JL says sorry we don't need/want you. Seems like if I were to leave a school for the sole reason of going to another school I would want to be sure, unless he just doesn't like IU and wants to leave no matter where he goes.

Beyers-Illinois
Plank-Wisky
Wilson-Arizona
Guitry-NC State
Murdock-Missouri
Just to name a few. All decent players but none lived up to the hype.

I agree with you big time!

I call them "B10 Rejects".

And now BradleyBrave or Squirrel will let me know Cellus will break my kneecaps for saying that.

Obviously a sticky situation and our coaches cannot make contact, but I think CB lives in Washington so it might not be too unusual that they bump into each other in such a "small town"

A coach cannot communicate with an athlete enrolled at another school, unless that athlete has been released to contact other coaches..

So an athelte could be allowed to contact other coaches while still on scholarship, and then decide whether to transfer or not? Or do they have basically have to leave school before they can communicate with other coaches?

They cannot have any contact with another coach unless they have been granted a release by their current school to do so.
