Memphis Recruiting Class

It is being rumored that just as soon as Memphis finishes their season, two TOP 10 recruits from the Class of 2008 will commit to Memphis for this fall.

Devin Ebanks, 5-STAR and #8 rated nationally, just got his release from Indiana, and is said to be choosing Memphis.

Tyreke Evans (the McDonalds All American game MVP), the highest rated unsigned player, a 5-Star, #6 ranked nationally is also going to commit to Memphis.

Memphis also has another 5-Star player coming in next year, Angel Garcia #25 ranked nationally

They also have 4-STAR, #47 ranked Matt Simpkins, meaning they will have a recruiting class that contains 4 of the nation's top 50 players.

Just curious....IF BU had this many players who were arrested time and time again, would they still be on the team?
If there were this many questionable things about players getting paid, wouldn't the NCAA be on campus and digging?
 
It will be only a matter of time before something comes out on Memphis. Calipari was dirty at UMass, I think it would be naive to think that he isn't at Memphis.

Yeah, how could that "mid-major" program be getting all of those players, and we're not? ;)

Calipari must be taking phone calls from Kelvin Sampson! :D

Memphis has better facilities, better arena, better weather, and a coach who is a proven winner. Also, Memphis for a young urban man man has some real charm compared to Peoria at first glance. If these top players are looking for an education LOL than it should be simple, BU!!!
 
Now Tyreke Evans is NOT willing to sign his Letter of Intent and is even placing conditions upon his willingness to sign!

Until he can be assured that Coach John Calipari isn't going to leave soon, Tyreke has placed a condition on signing his LOI. He says he won't sign until John Calipari signs a contract extension.

If you all remember, Evans was the one driving the car that his friend or someone gunned down a guy. Allegedly after the other dude opened fire on his car. He even had to have extra security with him the rest of the season due to fear of retaliation. Sounds like Memphis will be just the place for him where it seems like someone is getting arrested at a bar every other weekend.

After an absolute circus of press releases and the like, all saying Tyreke Evans would sign with Memphis, and even a report yesterday saying for sure it was going to happen last night...along with Wesley Witherspoon, now that Calipari has re-upped his contract at Memphis...

And even the rumor that Devin Ebanks is also coming to Memphis..(although the Bob Huggins/West Virginia boards are rampant with rumors that Ebanks gave a verbal to play at WVU)

BUT-- the word out of Memphis is that nobody knows a thing...

then nobody seems to know if it actually happened, and maybe it did not.....
Memphis definitely seems to be these guys' destination, but they seem to be holding out for something.....more money?? ;)
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.........



One other thing being rumored on the Memphis boards is that Tennessee's starting PG is apparently kicked off the team, and despite otherwise not having a scholarship, Bruce Pearl is trying to lure the top remining juco kid and PG, Bobby Maze who was previously recruited by Gary Williams at Maryland then cut loose because of something he did?

Recall that Ramar Smith was involved in a very suspicious auto accident where he took a teammate's car without permission, crashed it, then left the scene of the accident and even though injured, did NOT seek medical attention....hmmm
