Michael Tucker commits to BU!

For those who haven't seen it, Dave Reynolds updated his article about Michael Tucker last night with a bit of additional information, Dave reports that Michael Tucker's interest came from Georgia, Florida State, VCU and Wichita State, and there is no mention of other offers. -

All I need to know is that we were able to beat out Wichita St. for a kid. Those guys have been outrecruiting us for quite awhile. It's nice to finally win one. :D

So he was under the radar, yet received interest from NCAA tournament teams like Georgia, FSU, VCU, WSU?

Whatever the case, I'm looking forward to underclassmen Fields, Greer, Tucker, Zecevic suiting up next season. I think all these Geno recruits have a good chance to start next season (of course, not ALL will likely start in the same game with Lemon, Prosser, Pickett, Wells, Bell, Shayok, Crawford on the roster)

Things are definitely looking up...at least on paper...and in my hopeful imagination!

This is all hype by his coach, but as the article mentions, his prep school coach thinks Tucker is a 4-5 star talent.... A 4-5 star recruit would have interest from the likes of UNC, MSU, UK, KU..not "just" NCAA tournament teams ;)

my mom told me i was good looking enough to be a movie star.....

he doesn't have a filled out rivals page.... which is my benchmark for quality :|

but no i like the kid and the commitment but lets no go overboard

Maybe it would be better for a recruit to come in with NO hype, that way we wouldn't find ways to pick him apart or question our coaching staff's wisdom. No, on second thought, I'm certain we'd find a way then as well. Smh

I don't see anyone "pick(ing) him apart" or "question(ing) our coaching staff's wisdom". Where do you see that?
In fact all I see is over-the-top hyperbole like people comparing him to a 6-time NBA All Star like Joe Johnson-
"He’s a big guard in the mold of a Joe Johnson.”

or these other extreme superlatives-
“Mike may be the most underrated player in the country,”
“I guarantee this is a 4 or 5 star (rated) kid nobody knows about."
"When he gets to Bradley, everybody will say ‘Wow.’ ”

From what I see, I think Bradley fans are excited about MT. Most fans hope he lives up to the hype.

I don't necessarily disagree with this, but there are lots of exceptions. Iowa's top returning scorer from last season didn't have a Rivals profile until after he committed (who eventually got 3 stars after committing).

Taylor Brown didn't have a Rivals profile out of high school either.

I've never found a good litmus test that can predict whether a player is going to be successful based on media coverage prior to committing...and I've been trying to find some sort of correlation for years.

All that hype is from the preps coach too....sounds like a great get for us though...

we have reason to be optimistic about all our recruits - I sure am....
but none come with guarantees.........some of our very best players were little known when they got here (Jeremy Crouch, POB, Danny Granger) and even worse....some were picked apart by certain aspects of the fan base as "wasted scholarships" (Cello, JJ Tauai, Sammy, DRuff...)

Can we get a banging big now with one of our other scholarships? He sounds like a good recruit and a piece we needed. Now lets try and complete a well balanced recruiting class. It appears we are heading in the right direction but I'll hold my enthusiasm in check until he gets here and we see him play.

One more thing.....Welcome to the Hilltop!

Welcome to the wild and crazy world of BU MBB Mr Tucker!

Glad you chose BU!

Great school, great BB opportunity, great fans (at least those on BF.com  ), and great opportunities post graduation!

Awesome! I'm really looking forward to watching this kid play his final year of HS ball in my neck of the woods. Welcome to Bradley!

How about a little (you-tube)game video some time this season b4l! I would like to see some live action on MT! :D

I agree. How many times have we seen the rankings from these scouting agencies be completely wrong? Tucker fits the profile of the type of player that I have wanted BU to land for a long time. One thing that I have been critical of in the past is how we always seemed to land an abundance of smaller players. We truly will not know how good MT is until we see him next year. I also wouldn't mind another player like Tucker in this recruiting class.

Give me a true banging big player and another 6'6 player like Tucker and I will be happy with this recruiting class.

I might have missed it, but I didn't see this anywhere. This is a link to a Georgia HS recruiting site.
Tucker played his ball there before transferring to his current school.

He didn't crack the top 50, he's about 15 spots down from #50.. but those players don't appear to be ranked.

It appears those players listed below the Top 50 are in alphabetical order for each category (3-stars, 2-stars, etc.)
