Missouri State going to play in post season

According to Lyndal Scranton, the Missouri State beat writer for the Springfield, Missouri News-Leader, MSU has already been contacted by both the CBI and CIT and will make a decision about which they will play in. Pretty good end to their season, considering they were terrible last year (11-22).

It it almost certain that Indiana State will play in the NIT (unless they pull off a major upset and win the MVC tournament).
Northern Iowa will also get offers from the CBI and CIT, and Illinois State is a possibility for the CIT.

Missouri State won 20 games -- John Rooney talked a lot today about what an accomplishment that was although they got killed by WSU.

MSU has only 2 road wins, barely more than we do, they have a DII win and numerous 200 & 300 RPI wins - even a 350 RPI, something pretty hard to do...
...and they have an RPI in the 90's with a SOS over 120.

I have to wonder how gut-wrenching this is to Barry Hinson who had over 20 wins, an RPI in the 20's and still never got the NCAA bid when he was at Missouri State

I have a lot of respect for Jake Odum, but it just dropped a little with the stunt he just pulled. Knowing the officials were behind him, he grabbed Smithpeters' wrist and held it against his chest and flailed like his jersey was being held, The refs bought it.

I saw him do that once this year in Peoria in the lane??¦.I think it was on an out of bounds play if I remember right

Would you be upset if he was on your team & would you call it a witty, heady play? A senior schooling a frosh. No different than holding in the NFL; not holding when you don't get whistled.

Other than one poster the rest of the folks on the Saluki board don't have a problem with it. You are just looking for a negative.

No, I am a purist when it comes to playing by the rules. It is cheating, and he got away with it. If you believe cheating is OK as long as you get away with it, then I understand. And no, I would not be in favor of a player on my team cheating, even if his intent was to help the team win. IMO, integrity is more important than winning, but I realize that not all people might agree with that.

there is a fine line between cheating and a heady, tricky play...

is flopping in basketball cheating?
or faking a tag in baseball?
or trying to deke an opponent into making a bad judgement or staying on base when you know you were tagged out or keeping quiet when you know the ump missed the call?

There have been a lot of conference #1 seeds get upset this weekend. Davidson, Vermont, and Green Bay were all upset and are not going to get NCAA at-large bids. They will fall to the NIT or even the CBI.

You are correct.. It was late in the game when we were pressing them and making a small comeback. It was a big foul call at the time

Some inaccuracies in your statement there. We won 2 valley road games, but won 5 road games overall. ODU, Texas A&M (Neutral), Oral Roberts, and the road game at your place and Evansville.

We were in several road games till the end, but always seemed to choke in the last 5 mins or so. We had 2nd half road leads at ISU, UNI, and Drake. On the flip side we got destroyed at Loyola and WSU.

It is funny our SOS got killed because we couldn't get anyone to come play in Springfield this year. We had to take two dogs at home just to play infront of our fans. We played three top 10 teams for the first time in our history (Virgina, WSU, and Louisville) yet had a lower 40 point lower SOS than we did when our best non-con opponent was the SEC's last place Arkansas Razorback team. We also are the only team to tie WSU at the end of regulation

Overall losing Marshall, Pickens, and Gulley at different and the same points in the season made it difficult to get us any chemistry all year long.

Great work by the "Cylcone Alley" student section at Iowa State this weekend vs Oklahoma State to rub it in that Marcus Smart is a flopper.
