MVC Imperialism Map

A Drake fan on X was posting these until he stopped when Drake lost. Got inspired to spend a bit of time picking up the slack. Never would've expected to see Valpo on the game 4 map. I'll try to keep updated as the season goes on, although they generally get a bit more boring as the season progresses (hopefully it all turns to Bradley red)

That's pretty cool. I can see why the Drake kid stopped doing it as the fun of it runs out pretty quick if your team starts losing Keep it going for us, Kanhelf! :)

Valley Games 6 & 7, Murray takes Valpo's land and UIC takes it from Murray. The map goes blue!

For this Saturday's games....
  • Valpo could take UIC's territory
  • Indiana State could take Drake's
  • Evansville has a shot at Belmont's land
All pretty unlikely in my opinion. If Belmont wins Saturday, that means Bradley will have a chance at getting back on the map this coming Tuesday when they play in Nashville.

What's the deal? Bradley has won 6 of 7 MVC games, including a road win at UIC, and the biggest blowout in the MVC this year, and they don't even get a single county anywhere in the Midwest?
Meanwhile, UIC gets Northern Illinois and a major chunk of Iowa? And Belmont, who Drake beat, still gets most of Iowa, and all of Central Illinois (Bradley territory), despite Bradley winning their last 2, and 6 of 7 MVC games?
Someone needs to re-work their algorithm.

Bradley lost their "land" and everything they conquered once they lost to Drake. The can only gain land by beating a team that has land. So we could win land again by beating Belmont next game

Like previously mentioned, it’s just a winner-take-all system currently where the winner takes all the losers land. AKA you have to beat someone who currently “owns” land to gain land.

However, you do bring up a good point. It would be cool to come up with an algorithm that includes other ways to win back land and also account for differences in win margin and home/away wins. I’ll have to see if I can come up with anything interesting that works.

Valley Game 9! (game 8 map was the same as game 7 map) Bradley gets back on the map! Drake and UIC keep their land.
