Loyola 4th? They finished 15th (last place) in the A-10 last season, and the A-10 had one of its weakest years in memory (only 1 NCAA bid). There appear to be modest improvements with this year's roster. 4 of their starters return, and 7 of the players on the roster are either seniors or grad students. They have decent guards, but little size and not much inside offense. They were 15th (dead last) in rebounding in the A-10 last year, 13th in scoring, and lead the A-10 in turnovers. I think they could move up out of the basement, but I don't see much chance they finish in the top half, let alone the top 4.
They are still relying on many of the same players that won the MVC Tournament 2 years ago under Porter Moser. I'm not too impressed with new coach Drew Valentine's recruiting.

Creighton to the Big East, I get it. But in my adult life ... Tulsa, Wichita, Loyola ... left the MVC never to be heard from again. That's why I'd never support BU to the A10 or the American Whatever Conference with ECU et al. Just stay put and make the conference better.

BustingBrackets.com preview of Drake- https://bustingbrackets.com/2023/10...eason-preview-and-outlook-for-the-bulldogs/3/

As I look at their personnel (other than DeVries and Brody), I don't think they have enough to replace the contributions of Roman Penn, DJ Wilkins, Garrett Sturtz, and Sardaar Calhoun. They will still contend, but if teams can be effective guarding DeVries, or especially if they have any injuries to DeVries or Brody, that could change.

I thought Penn and Sturtz were the glue for Drake last year. I think they will miss them more than what they think

They definitely will miss those two plus the other two in Wilkins and Calhoun. Those 4 players added a lot as far as scoring last season. DeVries cannot carry that team and needs help as far as 3 point shooting goes plus Penn just really made everything go in running the point and was a not only a great passer but a good scorer.Hard to replace that type of player.
