My take aways from this season.

These are the thoughts i take away from this season...

1. We never learned how to play against a zone. In order to be a top team in the 2009-2010 season, we must learn to swing the ball around the zone to create open shots. Dribbling around for 25 seconds and heaving a 2 will not cut it.

2. We will not be a top tier team in any conference/tournament until we recruit bigs who can rebound. How many times this year were games decided simply because we were not as aggressive on the glass as we could have been? Lets get a big guy in here who is hungry for the ball, and who will dominate the glass.

3. We will miss Theron, but Roberts is a highlight reel. We will miss the tough passionate play of theron, but we will always be entertained with roberts making HUGE highlight ally-oop dunks.

Other than that, we are very good at the guard position, and I look forward to good things next year. Tough loss to take, but at least opening day is Monday for my Cardinals.

P.s.- OD brought some very classy fans along. They took the garbage given to them by the student section and continued cheering loudly. I wish nothing but the best for them, and look forward to playing them in a NATIONAL (I.E. BCS embraced) postseason tourney next year.

I don't think BU_EMT128 said anything that anyone would have a problem with. Most of the team for next year is intact, and if we can tweak things a bit and keep the injuries to a minimum, I think the NIT for sure is a good bet. I would say the NCAA's, but given that at least seven or eight teams from the Valley are bringing back most of their players, and after the way the BCS shafted the mid-majors this year, an NIT birth would be a nice step up, IF we fall a bit short of the ultimate goal.

Exactly. We would have been in that exact situation if we stayed healthy this season. It doesn't help losing your best returning player and a starting center. Hopefully, we're able to keep a full lineup intact next season! I'm very much looking forward to it!

BU_EMT is cool

Im feeling salty and used his first thread posted after the game. Folks that run this board seem to like to control what is said was my point.

Did anyone actually expect with Warren and Egolf out for the year that BU would be a great rebounding team, and a great defensive team, and a great shooting team?
I think this team overachieved, and got great contributions from nearly every player. Sam played as well as he is capable. But the absence of our best shooter, and our best offensive big man meant BU had to rely on centers with significant limitations.
And still Bradley would have won this game if a couple of the missed 3-pointers would have gone in.BU was only outrebounded by 7. Not bad for playing a team like ODU that outrebounded their last opponent by 28!

1. we only need to get someone who can shoot to crack a zone, or someone who can create, or a big who is a threat
2. there are no good bigs in the valley who can play, we would need a coupla of bigs if we expect to win outside of conference.
3. don't want any highlight reel guys, need a coupla on high iq bb players, someone who knows where he is on the floor and when to shoot.
it takes more than guards to win at D1 level, not really certain we really have D1 guards...

This was easily BU's best game of the tournament. We've played better during the regular season and could have beat this ODU team with our "A" game. Congrats ODU! And congrats BU on a fun season! :)

Andrew Warren! I can't wait. Counting the days down already...

I'm surprised this thread is still alive.

LOL!

Hey - I had a great time this season and in the postseason. I'm gonna miss the seniors but I can't wait til next season.

LIsten folks Braldey Fans is hands down the most high minded thoughtful fair and accurate board I have ever run across but it does feel high society.

Nobody wants to go to the dive bar here and really hear what people think.

People like people that have the same thoughts that they ........

It's a public board, but it's privately run. The mods can restrict posts however they see fit. You may not agree with that philosophy, but that is exactly why it is the most civil board out there.

1) Yep, it doesn't take much to beat the zone. The team would have been fine today if they would have simply shot their average on 3's.
2) Ever heard of Jordan Prosser? Watch any games that Egolf played earlier in the year?
3) The D1 game is guard-dominated. We have D1 guards, but our best guard was on the bench for 35 games. There were a few questionable shots tonight, but to suggest that our guards are dumb basketball players is just absurd.

What in the world has gotten into people? For three games it was just "this tournament doesn't matter." Then Bradley loses the championship and the sky if falling.

I went to every game of this tournament. I enjoyed every game of this tournament. Next year's team got everything they could possibly get out of this tournament. Why does it matter so much that the team didn't score 5 more points today when the returning players got 2 more weeks of games and practice to help for next year?

Sorry but I am calling out some of the fans in section 2...man are you obnoxious to our players....those guys are out there busting their tale...diving on the floor...doing everything they can to help BU get a win.....and I hear such derog comments that its embarassing....I hope they have not had to put up with that all season....

With this tourney it has allowed me to sit in different sections and get a feel for the crowd....section 1 rocked and did not hear any beligerent comments...section 12 was great too except for Lefty ;) I AM KIDDING!

Not all of section 2 was bad....obviously..but there were a few that were terrible....
