NCAA Bracket

Maybe if Creighton and Wichita St stayed in the MVC they would get disrespected and then play with a chip on their shoulder and then be in the Sweet 16 with Loyola.

Those programs and their fans can go kiss the moon.

Loyola is playing the best team ball I have seen so far in the tournament. Tennessee shot themselves in the foot in the first half with quick threes and just generally looking like they believed they would cruise.

And to think we weren’t sure we liked the pick of Loyola to replace Creighton.

And to think of someone had knocked them off in the valley tournament (like UNI on Friday or Bradley on Sat) they wouldn’t have even been invited.

They overcame the crap seed they got.

They keep saying that Loyola hasn’t lost since 1/31... I keep hoping they’ll mention who beat them.

Hard not to like watching this Loyola team. Good for them.

No, they wouldn't have been. And I'm so happy the Ramblers are showing just how crazy that would have been. I'm sure the commentators won't revisit that. After today's game, one admitted he hadn't seen Loyola all year.

And I'm with you, MacabreMob -- I can't believe how quiet the board has been after this big win for the Valley. That Custer's shot bounced in was amazing! I guess everyone is either a) at the IHSA finals or b) celebrating St. Patrick's Day.

Final thought on why this is so good for the Valley. Loyola's run is energizing Chicago. l have to believe their attendance will skyrocket next year. And that's good for everyone.

Congrats to the Ramblers in making it to the 2nd week of March Madness! They are as good as a fundamentally sound team that I've watched all season. No team passes the ball better than them, 17 assists on 22 baskets in this game, and they get after it on defense. They withstood Tennessee's early push, dug in, played hard and smart, gave up another late lead but made their last shot count again. They just know how to win. Either Nevada or Cincinnati will find out just how hard of an out that Loyola will be. Go get em boys!

Amazing - Snivelling Snotty Gregg Marshall is out. Creighton, holier than thou, is out. MVC 1-bid League Rep is in the Sweet 16.

With Cincinnati's loss to Nevada, the vaunted American Athletic Conference has been eliminated.

Meanwhile, the MVC plays on. Sweet!

Nevada's entire starting five are DI transfers they poached off other teams' rosters including Jordan Caroline from SIU

Loyola's team passing this year reminds me of the 2006-2007 BU team which was one of the best passing and most exciting team to watch.

Yes, they do pass well, better than any MVC team I saw this year. They were, by far, the #1 team in assists in the MVC. and #1 in shooting percentage.
They were also the highest scoring team in MVC play, they had the best assist/turnover ratio.
In past years, Porter Moser's teams were not the best passing teams, but that is one of the biggest differences with this year's team.

Loyola has a legitimate chance to win the whole thing.

19 point lead- 52-33 with 14 minutes left.
After playing all close games, so far, Loyola is trying to bury a pretty good Kansas State team.

Loyola is just amazing and what a great game to watch.Im sure everyone can see what we don't have and will not be able to compete until we have a smart BIG guy in the middle. It is very obvious what Krutwig means to that team.Go Ramblers and MVC!!

Fantastic game for Loyola. Just think BU was the last team to beat them and almost got it done in St Louis also.
Congratulations to Loyola and the way you have represented the Valley

This Loyola run is officially ridiculous. This has shown me that I know almost nothing about basketball. An MVC team just dismantled the theam that dispatched Kentucky. How much has Loyola improved since playing BU on 3/3/18, or is there not as far of a gulf between us and the big boys?

Can our boys look at all this and be encouraged?
Can this help recruiting in the MVC?
Will Porter Moser be bought away?

Just amazing that if we had just made a shot in the last few minutes how different this story could have been. I went back and looked at that game and we had 6 straight possessions where we could have tied or taken the lead in the 2nd half. One of the reasons for that was just how good Loyola's defense was. They held us to 1 point for the last 7:00 of the game. Our defense was pretty good too but, as they just seem to have a knack for it, the Ramblers found a way to win. How good is there offense? In the post season they had 14 assists on 23 baskets against UNI, 16 assists on 21 baskets against BU, 15 assists on 22 baskets against ISU Red, 19 assists on 26 baskets against Miami, 17 assists on 22 baskets against Tennessee, 15 assists on 29 baskets against Nevada and against Kansas State they had 17 assists on 27 baskets. Not too shabby. Really happy for their success after being the doormat since they joined the MVC. It's nice to have a team to really root for at the Final Four! GO LOYOLA!
