NCAA rule changes for 2008-2009- 3-point line

But, seeing less big men shoot 3-pointers will only be the most noticeable change.
Everyone will be affected in one way or another. Shooting percentages are going to drop significantly.
There will be fewer double-digit comebacks and there will be a bigger premium on 3-point specialists..."

So basically college basketball is going to start resembling the NBA. Wonderful.

The NCAA should have also widen the lanes like they have in international rules. I believe the moving the 3 pt shot back without lane changes will benefit teams with bigs.

I am hoping that this helps Bradley even more as our 3 point shooters seem to have more range then a lot of the teams we play; I do not believe it will have any significant change as far as inside scoring goes.

I doubt shooting percentages will drop as significantly as that article indicates. Sure, for big men who might take the occasional 3 pointer (or desperation 3 pointer), their shooting % will drop more. But for most guards who are used to perimeter, shooting I don't think the drop will be that much.

Also, I don't think this will hinder double-digit come-backs much either. The 3 pointer as a weapon definitely helps you get back in the game. However, I also believe most come-backs occur because college players are more susceptible to momentum shifts and the home crowd advantage/disadvantage.

The reverse could also be said about double-digit come-backs. That is, preventing them would be much harder with the 3 point line pushed back. How many times have we seen teams rally only to have the other team knock-down a few 3 pointers to erase all that hard work.
