NCAA slightly alters the rules for the basketball transfer portal

--formerly it was a 30-day window that began at the end of the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament

so, to help better teams recruit worse teams players as the window now opens when the better teams are done playing

historically, the spring signing period started mid-April and lasted a month. Those dates aren't binding now but
the time element will still be the same for transfers.
This change will cause players who are contemplating transfer to hurry up and get it done quicker -
which will lead to a more furious feeding frenzy as players flood the portal by mid-April looking for a new home.

BUT also it now gives the better teams that will still be playing after the 2nd round (likely most would be P-5 schools)
now will have more time and opportunity to compete for the best talent.
Obviously that does benefit the big schools who have a while lot more to offer in the way of exposure, TV time and NIL.
Smaller schools will get the leftovers or continue to recruit juco, Europe & D2.

(note that the same shortening of the portal window occurred in football with the very top schools seeing a slight
improvement in "turnover" - so the big boys seemed to like that and possibly wanted it for basketball)

What rules because the Miami QB. is not taking any classes this fall or spring. How is that possible?
I also heard our recruit that came from Eastern Kentucky came here for a day this summer and was told BU could not enroll him because of grades. He is playing at Bowling Green so is it because our standards are too high for some of these players?
I do not see how you can have any standards when players transfer from multiple schools like they do now.

I don't know the answers to the questions you posed, but I do know Bradley's admission standards are higher than NCAA minimum standards. They are higher than most schools and probably the highest in the MVC. There have been many cases in the past of recruits that Bradley had to drop off of because of academic issues.

I wish they were equal to the teams in the Valley. We cannot afford to lose recruits because of these issues.

Whoa...i would GLADLY pass on a good player that cant hack it in our academics. I would rather remain an instuion of higher learning than be a good mid-major at a sport. This is COLLEGE after all. Student first, then athlete.

Yeah, we are not Alabama or Kentucky.

I heard some stories from Jim Les (and Jim Molinari) about a few players they liked, but was not able to recruit because of grades or test scores. Some of them landed at other MVC schools.
